Итоги 3-го этапа RISC-V DEVBOARDS: что показали проекты на базе Baikal-U
3-й этап программы раннего доступа к архитектуре RISC-V DEVBOARDS на базе отладочной платы Base (EVU-BA-2.1) на основе микроконтроллера Baikal-U (BE-U1000) стал одним из самых насыщенных по составу и содержанию проектов. Более 100 заявок, 32 отобранные команды и широкий отраслевой охват показали устойчивый интерес к этой платформе со стороны разработчиков, университетских команд и инженерных коллективов, работающих в прикладных направлениях. В центре внимания оказались проекты, связанные с промышленной автоматизацией, системами ЧПУ, интерфейсными модулями, контроллерами производственных линий и модульными беспилотными платформами. В статье разбираем, какие именно задачи участники решали на базе Baikal-U, как использовали многоядерную архитектуру, периферию и доступный стек разработки, а также какие практические выводы можно сделать по итогам этапа. Отдельно рассматриваем несколько показательных кейсов, чтобы понять, в каких сценариях платформа уже показала себя как рабочий инструмент, а где разработчики столкнулись с задачами следующего уровня - тепловым режимом, питанием, компоновкой, развитием библиотек и переходом от макета к более зрелому устройству.

I keep my contacts in a #CardDAV address book on my own #Baikal #DAV server, and my Betterbird email app has no problem accessing this.What it can't do is merge 2 contacts!
It's 2026, we almost have flying cars, how is merging contacts not possible?

｢ Back in 2024, various kernel maintainers were removed due to their association to Russia on grounds of compliance requirements. That included some of the Russian Linux developers working on the Baikal CPU support.
But due to sanctions they weren't able to get their chips manufactured by TSMC and ultimately Baikal Electronics entered bankruptcy ｣

Our group went all across and around the Olkhon Island, and we even got to do some ice skating on a smooth part of the lake.
In these months the ice is thick enough for cars to drive on, so that's the main mode of transport. The drivers can be pretty crazy there, our guide told us some of them go upwards of 100 km/h on ice lol, that sounds very dangerous.
But we also traveled on airboats a few times -- also a fairly unique experience.

At the end of January we traveled to Lake Baikal with @bugaevc -- our first time there, and generally in such cold weather. Imagine plane landing at ~4 AM your time and the flight attendant announcing "Welcome to Irkutsk, the temperature outside is -40°" 😆
We were well prepared though and had a great time! Lots of gorgeous scenery and a huge variety of ice types and formations. 1/2

Great, an amazing chain of events and maybe unfortunate UI design in #DAVx5 resulted in me deleting our shared #CardDAV addressbook - server side from an ancient #baikal instance, no backups (no mercy) of course. My rescue attemps of copying contacts around in #Thunderbird (why does 'export' make an effing lossy CSV without avatar!?) just made it worse, 50% of contacts now left.
It's finally time to #selfhost #radicale with #git and #borgbackup failsafes on my #nixos #homelab...

Years ago (pre-cloud) I used to self host at home, but as the cloud grew there became little point in this d-i-y approach. But as you say, now the cloud has become such a bad place, the d-i-y approach is back in fashion again !

I used the Sunday morning to upgrade my Baïkal instance to version 0.11.0 (if you experience issues with the MySQL connection afterwards, make sure to add the new required configuration entry mysql_ca_cert to your config).

okay hmm. I've now been extensively dogfooding #TasksOrg plus #Davx5 plus #Baikal as a lightweight #CalDAV backend for a couple weeks as part of my relaunch of personal task management, and I'm starting to think this would be a great subject for a video on the Surfhosting Peertube channel.
I need to use it for a few more weeks though, because I'm still discovering things about the software and letting my usage patterns evolve.
one cool thing that I think will make this useful is that I'm using Tasks.org (which is an Android app, despite the name) in at least three ways simultaneously: for tasks which repeat every single day, for a to-do list for the current day and upcoming days, and for a to-do list for various task domains which stretch up to several months into the future.
I think this will make for a great video on how to use this admittedly complicated but very powerful #selfhosted task management system.

Wasn't able to get #Baikal #CalDAV to work so moved everything to a now working #NextCloud instance.

Nice! #NextCloud works behind #nginx Proxy Manager when added some extra headers as stated here: https://github.com/NginxProxyManager/nginx-proxy-manager/issues/582#issuecomment-2041376380
Interestingly if you're connected, then remove the headers macOS Calendar continues to function. It's only when adding the account it fails.
Tried the same headers for #Baikal (with different redirects of course) but still no dice there.
Next Cloud seems overkill for what I need, but I guess I'll be migrating then.

Interesting! After updating to #macOS 15.7.2 the #Calendar app wouldn't connect to my #Baikal #CalDAV server anymore. Tried #NextCloud. #Thunderbird and other third party apps worked just fine. Was reluctant to update iOS and iPadOS as I feared those would break as well. But they kept working.
Just to test I installed NextCloud on another server that uses #Apache instead of #NginxProxyManager #NPM and lo and behold: macOS Calendar connects just fine!
But I need NPM to work...

Ugh, updating the latest update for #macOS 15 #Sequoia broke #Baikal #CalDAV. It was always finicky to get it to work but it has worked fine until now.
Maybe I should look into setting up #Nextcloud just for CalDAV... I think it supports CalDAV. But it also adds so much more I have no need for. I think 🙂.

I have issues with the tasks, though. I access them on my computers in #thunderbird, and on my #android with #davx5 and #tasksorg.
The tasks often have differing tags and due dates across devices. Changes to the description and titles seem to be consistent, though.
Is this perhaps a known shortcoming of either #caldav, baikal, DAVx5, or one of the apps? 🤔

In meiner #individuellen #Webapplikation von @pixnbits gibt es jetzt eine automatische #synchronisation mit meinem #adressbuch . So habe ich alle meine Kontakte und #Gruppen in meiner #Webapp zur Verwaltung der #Unterrichtsstunden und #Chorproben , zusätzlich aber eben auch in meinem Mailprogramm oder auf meinem #Mobiltelefon .
