Es regnet junge Hunde, weshalb ich mich endlich mal ans Korrekturlesen der Doktorarbeit vom Kind gemacht habe. Aber: ich habe ja neuerdings linux und bin noch nicht dahinter gekommen, wie ich beim xreader Stellen markieren und kommentieren kann. Kann mir jemand auf die Schnelle verraten, ob, und wenn ja wie das geht?

Just discovered that #Xreader (the default document viewer for #Mint, and a fork of #Evince) allows for navigation using #vim motions, and I am highly amused.

Particularly because this isn't at all hinted at in the documentation.

I wonder if this works in Evince, and I just never noticed? Hrm.

Bei mir verhält sich der #xreader (PDF Viewer unter #linuxmint ) manchmal auch so - sogar ohne irgendeine vorherige Eingabe, sondern direkt nach dem Start☹

#evince (#gnome's #pdfreader) is really nice, but I am using it with a file that is has around 100 pages and gets recompiled (it's based on #LaTeX) every now and then. Then evince freezes. So now I have to use #xreader which is sad...

Maybe someday #linux will have a real #acrobatreader alternative...

Print a #PDF using #Debian #Mint:
- #Xreader fails to print double-sided
- #Evince crashes upon opening the print dialog
- #Okular prints font garbage.
- #Atril: Looks like Xreader and Evince, but just works. 🤷‍♂️

when I open #eps files in #inkscape or #gimp, embedded raster graphics are converted to ugly #jpeg full of compression artifacts.
there are no artifacts when I open the same file with a pdf-viewer like #xreader or #qpdfview.
creating eps files works well with inkscape&gimp.

can anybody explain or has an idea? :breadthink:
