Can anyone recommend a good #FOSS #PDFreader app for #macOS? I’ve got PDFgear right now and it is horribly slow to open and nagging me to buy features I don’t need. Kthx!
App Store search is garbage. Happy to use Homebrew also.

Someone on here recommended Skim as an open-source, AI-free pdf reader. Thank you, whoever made the rec and boosted it into my feed. It is fast, light, full of features I want, and easy to use.

I've recently deleted the Acrobat reader. Intrusive #AI integration? No, thanks. Also, it has become way too slow. - Try the #SumatraReader (https://www.sumatrapdfreader.org/free-pdf-reader). It is super fast and #FOSS.
Instead of using the subscription based, highly undemocratic #TechnoFeudalist...

is it possible, that normal #pdf documents are not opening as fast as they used to (very sluggish) , because the latest version of Adobe pdf reader are overloaded with unnecessary AI-tools …?

or is it just me?

Anyone using a lightweight #PDFreader on #iOS26? #Apple’s #Preview on #iOS is extremely distracting! The UI elements are bulky and always visible, block a significant part of the document, and never auto-hide, which gets pretty annoying.

I’m looking for something minimal: must support search, annotation, clean/distraction-free UI. Any recommendations?

I got tired of Adobe's PDF Reader taking forever to load, and then trying to shove "AI" in my face, every time I wanted to read a PDF. I've been using SumatraPDF for a couple weeks now on Windows, and it's shaking things up!

Welchen #PDFReader verwendet ihr?
Ich suche einen schnellen Reader mit dem man auch Anmerkungen mit Stift machen kann... Adobe Reader wird mir immer zu aufgeblasener.
Habe auch #SumatraPdf getestet. Der ist schnell, man hat aber nur Textfelder für Anmerkungen erstellen.

Librera can reflow PDFs. I use it all the time. Literally, I never read unflowed PDFs. It does a LOT of other stuff, too.

Stavo cercando un lettore #PDF portatile per il mio PC da gioco (#Windows), #Foxit sembra piuttosto usato, quindi sono andato a cercarlo in rete.
So che le versioni portatili contengono tutte le librerie e tutti i file necessari, ma 452 Mb!! Come è possibile?

Così ho scaricato #SumatraPDF che pesa solo 15 Mb, è un solo eseguibile e basta.
L'ho già installato sul mio notebook del lavoro ed è un buon lettore PDF che fa il suo dovere: aprire i file pdf.

Is there a go to #PDFreader for #Ubuntu that's #opensource and lets me mark text fragments in different colours and make annotations in the margins?
I'm studying again and want to do stuff more efficiently (and without printing hundreds of pages, off course).

Or do I have to go to Adobe for this?

Mine updated today to 111 and from a quick search and read on Reddit it seems there's no setting to revert this behaviour?!

#evince (#gnome's #pdfreader) is really nice, but I am using it with a file that is has around 100 pages and gets recompiled (it's based on #LaTeX) every now and then. Then evince freezes. So now I have to use #xreader which is sad...

Maybe someday #linux will have a real #acrobatreader alternative...

Why are #pdfApps on the Mac so bad? I don’t like Preview. I was persuaded to pay for PDF Expert after they changed their business model and it’s worse and more flakey every day.

Anyone use a #pdfReader that they like?
