  1. I haven’t done Tuneswap Tuesday for a while… anyone got some good folk for me? Here’s Clive Williams playing a Northumbrian pipe tune on a tiny melodeon: Peacock Followed the Hen

  2. This recording from Blowzabella’s early days of the well known “Bear Dance” is listed as “Bear Dance No. 3” - so is it the/a third recording of it, or are there two other Bear Dances that didn’t become popular? Anyone know?

  3. I hadn’t listened to any Jack Armstrong for ages until last night - I love the simplicity of his playing. Here he is with Proudlock’s Hornpipe, which this recording gives a forename to too (which I had forgotten) -

  4. Brought on my my recent reading, I wanted to remind y’all that Dave Shepherd’s “Rose of Raby” is an excellent tune and sounds lovely on the smallpipes. I’ve even played it on my own hummelchen recently!
Anyone else have a folk tune to share this #TuneswapTuesday ?

  5. Happy #TuneswapTuesday all those who celebrate it.
This is Sandra Kerr and John Faulkner singing Peggy Seeger’s “Song of Choice”, for obvious reasons.

  6. I've not really played in about a week as my shoulder hasn't been right after some enthusiastic one-row playing... so here's someone a bit more competent playing one without hurting themselves!

    Scan Tester's no.1 played by Peter Rogan - and doesn't a 4 stop in G sound glorious?!

  7. Given mention of La Bottine Souriante in this month’s Chatterbox, I’ve finally been getting around to learning Le Reel Des Soucoupes Volantes on the one-row… here they are playing it as my share for the first #TuneswapTuesday of 2025

  9. I went to Morrisons to get some bananas this morning and so was inspired to post this for #TuneswapTuesday

  10. I failed to do #TuneswapTuesday yesterday, but I have a good excuse: work overran and then I had to jump straight in the car to pick friends up and go to see these lovelies… here’s #Bellowhead’s Sloe Gin from 2007 - I was working behind the main bar at the festival, so could hear brilliantly and just about see the stage, and not many people buy drinks during really good acts.

  11. As it is the 109th anniversary of Joe Hills’ death, I thought I’d share @nicheinterests playing the #JoeHill song The Preacher And The Slave for #TuneswapTuesday this week

  12. Distract yourself from American politics by listening to #NorthumbrianSmallpipes - here’s Andrew Lawrenson playing Madame Bonaparte as my share for #TuneswapTuesday, now that I actually know what day of the week it is: youtu.be/VSwyZv8xgS0

  13. As the first test train ran from Oxford to Bletchley High Level on #EWR yesterday it only seems appropriate to share The High Level Hornpipe by James Hill, played by Will Allen this #TuneswapTuesday

  14. Interesting time at #CIHT Climates workshop today. Lots of food for thought on greening transport. More on that when I’ve done some digesting of the future gazing, if I can articulate it.

Anyway, it is #TuneswapTuesday, and my bus is running horribly late… here’s Put The Road in Order performed by #BrassMonkey

  15. Can’t find the track of The Kathryn Tickell Band playing “The Desparation” I wanted to share, but in looking for it found this video of a young Kathryn Tickell playing a couple of Billy Pigg tunes that will more than do for #TuneswapTuesday

    youtu.be/Pc6oim33LV0

Gypsy’s Lullably is one of my favourite tunes to play & following it with Billy Pigg’s Hornpipe is a really nice change of pace

  16. The Cock and Bull Band’s original version of “Lunch in the Pub” is a bit twiddlier than is often played in sessions, and the @RedCuthbert dance only fits the simpler version, but it’s a fun tune! We might even play it in the pub tonight, you never know. Got anything to swop? #TuneswapTuesday

  17. Good old Lester Bailey playing Albert Farmer’s Bonfire Tune on a one row four stop - classic for #TuneswapTuesday

    youtu.be/BXlsNtOrWa4?

I do love the sound and simplicity of the HA114 - I should play mine more. Not having to make decisions about cross rowing or what chords to play is a bonus!

  18. Akshully it's only "thousands or more" if it's from the "Although I'm not rich" region of the song. Otherwise it's just "sparkling eyes" #TuneswapTuesday

  19. This 1975 album pretty much charted the course for the next 50 years of Irish traditional music. To this day, many of the tunes are often played in the same order as they appear on the album.

All of the musicians in this Bothy Band lineup went on to be influential solo musicians and members of numerous other groups.

  20. I normally find that busy bodhran playing distracts from the melody and drags a tune down. This video is a lovely exception.
