Why a jug with a #bagpipe? In #medieval times the bagpipe was a symbol for debauchery: feasting, sexuality, drinking a lot. This jug is a replica of a jug that was made somewhere between 1475 and 1550. So it all makes sense. Right?

Brought on my my recent reading, I wanted to remind y’all that Dave Shepherd’s “Rose of Raby” is an excellent tune and sounds lovely on the smallpipes. I’ve even played it on my own hummelchen recently!

More bagpipe! The CLASP (Competition League for Amateur Solo Pipers) has in-person and online competition leagues, workshops, and a great bunch of friendly people. Solo pipers in Grades 5-1 can compete. If you don’t know your grade, you can send in a video.
There’s even a chanter competition for new players not yet on pipes, and the prize last time was an ESSession chanter!
The online live competitions especially are well organized and managed, and give pipers living a distance from the usual highland games, or in countries that don’t have a piping scene, a chance to set goals and keep their chops up. Judges include top global pipers. Crit sheets are aimed at helping you improve, not just rank you.
Better than a beer tent! I’ve been a member since I started piping in 2019 as an oldster beginner. I love it.

I started playing #cello as a child, played classical music in an orchestra.
Went on to playing Trad. #IrishFolk in my twenties, especially #TinWhistle which I still play from time to time.
Around that time, I also started playing the #bagpipe, mainly the Great German Bagpipe or #Marktsack as we call it.

I can't make anything official because it'll be a surprise to the (not so small) audience of the Band. But what I can tell you is, that I joined them and another Band in the Studio last weekend for a feature song recording, and I really think this will be an awesome release. -
