So true about all the different styles and traditions.
From my perspective, the list of "favourites", or maybe influences or summat, would be entirely different with a very different type of accordion.
Here's a little taste of the type of thing we (to this level, I wish!) get up to with much more "limited" instruments (a one-row 4-stop diatonic, on the left of the line-up in the picture):

Just a "shout-out" for the Wigan Diggers Festival.
With all the fascist thuggery going on right now, come and join in on some socialist camaraderie in Wigan on September 7th.
(Oh, and I'll be playing there with Greenman Rising).

There's a cute little piece of 18th-century doggerel about the Enclosure Act in England called "Goose and Common." The enclosures were a disaster for the English working class; you can draw a straight line from them all the way to the coal strikes during the Thatcher administration, and probably further than that. That's probably why every setting of the lyric I've encountered is all minor-key and dirge-like. But it's still witty and clever, and I thought it deserved a livelier tune, so I wrote one.
Warning: I'm no singer. You'll see what I mean. But I'm the one I have.

The End of the World Began A Long Time Ago
Hello Fedi-FriendsI really found this to be an excellent and well written article. I find he hits the nail on the head so often in his posts. https://www.donotpanic.news/p/the-end-of-the-world-began-a-long
It also made me think of the album 'All Things in Common' by a folk singer friend of ours in the UK, Chris Foster.
You can listen in your streaming service of choice: https://songwhip.com/chris-foster/all-things-in-common

Off to play with Greenman Rising at Trowbridge Festival today (or, rather, tonight).
Checking instruments (yes, #melodeon (s) still has reeds in it, whistles still blow) and faffing about waiting to get picked up.
If you're there, come and say hello!

Greenman Rising - The Queen's Hall Nuneaton recorded the second half of our set tonight (as guests of the excellent Canadian band The Dreadnoughts)
https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1670901780016133
Sorry it's on Facebook (nowt to do with me), but I've checked and it seems to to be freely watchable without logging in.
I wonder who that enigmatic bloke, sat at the back in a hat, is? 😄

That said, except maybe #TheWatersons these are all more modern #EnglishFolk groups, rooted in trad but taking it forward. But they'd be the ones to follow to get answers to the #FolkMusic roots they're digging upAs to be expected, feelings will be divided and strong! 😹
❤️🔥🪗 Really, all I claim to know much about is the #Accordion
