  8. I feel like we've gotten a lot of very tiny versions of fairly large artillery this year. And Imperial stuff is all light gray and dark gray. Very monochrome. Sabine really needs to get in there and add some much-needed splashes of color.

    Two more windows. They're saving it for the last day, aren't they? #LegoStarWarsAdventCalendar #StarDestroyer #Endor #ReturnOfTheJedi #StarWars #MayTheForceBeWithYou #legos #lego #AdventCalendar 3/3

  9. Day 24 of my #AdventCalendar of #art. A shot where work #photography intersects with art. A community #hāngi to celebrate #Mātariki. The dark steaming mound of earth lit by car headlights and lights from the attendant fire engine. The almost ghostly shapes of the people waiting to dig away the earth to reveal the #kai and feed the gathered #whānau. Magical

  10. CW: Long post: TLDR - Don't Yuck Someone Else's Yum
Admitting up front that a bit of this is just... personal irritation/bitching about fountain pen stuff, so if you're not down for that, feel free to move along.

I follow a bunch of pen accounts on Instagram, and I'm noticing that some of the people who are personal accounts but who have really extensive ink collections have a real attitude about the Inkvent calendar.

And frankly it's harshing my vibe.

I get that not all of these inks are reinventing the wheel. I get that if you spend all your disposable income on ink over a long period of time, and follow a bunch of indie ink-makers and ink sample mailer boxes, when you sign up for the Inkvent calendar from Diamine, you want things that will fill you with awe and wonder because you feel like you've seen it all.

But there is *so much ink* in the world. So much. So much ink that even though I follow pen accounts and even though I have a fairly respectable ink collection myself, I haven't even scratched the surface.

The Inkvent Calendar is new ink to me. I'm excited to be opening it. I'm excited to see new inks that I've not ever seen before. And when every time I open up Instagram there's a bunch of accounts bitching about how today's ink is just a dupe of (some ink company I've never heard of), it's... not all that much fun.

If you don't want the calendar, don't get it. And I'm sure a bunch of those folks won't get the calendar next year and that's fine. But at least one or two of them *went into this calendar* saying that they "just knew" it would all be dupes of things they already had in their collection because (blah blah blah reasons) "just like last year".

And here I am having bought full size bottles of three of the Inkvent 2021 inks because I love them and didn't have anything like them and want to use them all the time.

I get that if you wanted your mind blown, it's fine to be disappointed. But I'm ready to start unfollowing a bunch of accounts that I'd actually really enjoyed for the last several months, simply because I don't want to deal with how much you hate everything about Inkvent. It's okay to say "this is a dupe for" or "this is similar to" some other inks that you have or that you've seen. (And certainly if you're a pen and ink company/retailer, you want to tell people that since a lot of these inks won't ever see full time production.)

But if your whole schtick is to bitch about why today's ink is such a disappointment, a) why are you still doing this to yourself, and b) I am kind of sick of hearing about it.
