For those that caught the red flags in the @sltrib.com @sltrib article about The Other Side Academy's programs, here's what we feared confirmed.
#Utah should not be supporting this abuse as an official solution to substance abuse and homelessness. Personalized torture shouldn't be the option to leave the generalized torture of the justice system.
People need real help. Not one size fits all (especially not if someone's getting free labor and millions in income).

Every time I see that mural showing what Scheels is going to have, I think that it is going to be a good addition to Mayfair.

The City of Wauwatosa is looking for new branding/logo design and floated running a "contest" and even posted what appears to be AI art examples.
People are not having it. Many comments were negative of the AI slop and many said "Hire actual designers!" so that's a bright spot this week.

Excellent Scrappy Hour Group Ride today. Weather was nice and warm, fall colors were awesome. Small group from Tosa (just four this time) but me, Michael, Nick, and James had a blast!

I did a 21 mile bike ride today. Along the way I saw a turkey, found a good pair of scissors, discovered Hidden Lake, and stopped to see Mama Rosa at Firefly Grove Park in Wauwatosa.

Besides the bruised bananas I am chuffed at today's ride to the store and general adventure ride around town, going places I didn't think I could get to by bike. I rode about 13 miles and a little over an hour. The ebike is great for outrunning traffic or getting up those nasty hills. I still go really slow (PAS 1 or turned off) when on the crowded Oak Leaf Trail.

I know many of our systems are breaking down but I asked the City of Wauwatosa about this intersection w/no lights or safe pedestrian/bike crossing. Here's what they said:
"The Wisconsin DOT is planning to raise the Mayfair Road bridge over Menomonee River in the Year 2026. The project will include a bicycle/pedestrian underpass as well as improved lines of sight for the Mayfair & Menomonee River Parkway intersection."
This is great news!

Today's ride on Hampton Avenue was much better! I just need to time it right. Wait for the light to turn green, wait until all the cars go through, then bike after them. I only need a gap of a few minutes to get past the gnarly part of the road.
The other tricky part is crossing Mayfair on the Menomonee Parkway. I actually get off the bike and walk it across there. No signals, not even for pedestrians so it's a rough one.

A few photos from today's ride into the Tosa Village. The Menomonee River overflowed and this was a pretty bad scene a few days ago. It's looking better but there's a good amount of damage.

I have seen enough videos like that to know that it's not a great idea to be standing on a bridge over a river that is flooding that bad. 🤨

Sooo, I rode the ebike this morning, did my longest ride, in minutes and miles. Burned tons of calories, so yeah… ebike means more exercise, not less.

Holy Crap! I biked to work... I took the (borrowed) ebike and it took 24 minutes. (I had estimated 35-40.) My route was about 7 miles. (The bike said 7, my phone said 6.7.)
This drive usually takes about 15 minutes by car. I probably spent at least a few minutes waiting at stoplights at the busier streets but taking the Oak Leaf Trail was smooth as hell.
