Já faz algum tempo que o #TeXmacs está rodando de maneira irritantemente lenta no meu desktop. Como ele roda bem no meu notebook, achei que fosse por estar usando a versão appimage no desktop. Mas acabei de instalar a versão regular aqui e continuou lenta. 🤡

@eltonfc @althieme @nelsonsantana Tb tenho um caso de procrastinação com o Latex, mas nesse meio-tempo dois programas que me conquistaram foram o #zettlr e o #texmacs.

Não fico mais sem usar o Zettlr, ele permite exportar inclusive sob templates do #latex.

Quanto ao texmacs, ele é uma junçao de latex com emacs e permite editar diretamente no visual. E é bem leve.

I wish typographical ambiguities such as f(x) and f*(x) were easier to clarify.

Found #TeXmacs because I was looking for an #Octave environment like #Jupyter and honestly it's pretty cool. I'd love not having to run a browser to get Jupyter's functionality.
Sadly TeXmacs seems kinda buggy and now it thinks my Octave session is Scheme? But gosh, it has potential.

@koherecoWatchdog @bsmall2 While this is true, usually only a fraction of students will go on to publish articles in such journals.

Also, there's lots of other software that students might need later on in their careers (R, git, Python, etc.), but that doesn't mean they should be taught all of these.

I would go with #markdown or #texmacs for undergraduate students.

Similarly, allowing **only** LaTeX source is also a weakness.

If you write documents in anything but LaTeX (I use #TeXmacs, which is not LaTeX), your only choice on ArXiV is to submit a PDF.
