Live tracking with 4× LilyGO T-Beam SUPREME units.
Each node transmits GPS coords every 10s, logs TX/RX to SD, and stays µs-disciplined to avoid collisions. A Semtech SX1303 sniffer on an RPi 4B captures all traffic → UDP → CSV → live web map with fading positions. Includes 49 second video (sped up 500%).
Structured Exercise 12 now documented:

Working toward running #microReticulum natively on the LilyGO T-Beam SUPREME (ESP32-S3 + SX1262).
Hardware exercises complete (GPS, OLED, SD) and basic LoRa ping-pong via RadioLib.
Next: implement a proper Reticulum LoRa interface layer for SX1262 on ESP32-S3 — binding microReticulum’s interface abstraction to SPI/DIO/TCXO for full RNS operation.
Interested in collaborating or testing? #Reticulum #LoRa #ESP32 #TBeam #Meshtastic

I kinda fell into the #Meshtastic hole again, repeatedly, over the last week or so. Still not fully comprehending the whole thing, but I've at least been able to talk to someone a couple of kilometers away, so I'm making some progress 🙂 Here's a weird photo of my current client base setup - a #Lilygo #TBeam Supreme with a large 868 MHz antenna that I'm not 100% works, and a smaller 2 GHz wifi antenna. All hanging in some sort of limbo in my living room.
Spun up a #Prometheus instance on the basement #Kubernetes cluster, wrote a Meshtastic node exporter in #Python that would make seasoned developers cry, but it did the trick and I've got somewhere to check when testing antennas and moving the setup. Maybe I'll find the perfect spot and hardware combo before the #apocalypse.

Like I mentioned, I don't know a lot about #MeshNetworks, but I'd love to know what others think of the #MeshTastic systems. This seems to be a pretty up-to-date guide on how to set up a Mesh network (there wasn't a date on the piece, but they referenced QR codes). Personally, I'd rather go the #HamRadio route, but there's a few hoops to jump through for that (like the Ham radio test and licensing).
How to Set Up Meshtastic: A Beginner-Friendly Guide You Need
"Meshtastic enables encrypted communications over distances of 11 kilometers with uninterrupted line of sight. Setting up this powerful technology is surprisingly simple.
"A LILYGO® TTGO Meshtastic T-Beam board costs just $30 and ships with pre-installed software. The devices are equipped with AES256 encryption to ensure secure communications between authorized radios. A single 18650 battery powers these units for days without charging, and solar cells can keep them running indefinitely.
"This piece covers the complete setup process for #TBeam, #HeltecV3, and #TDeck hardware. You’ll learn everything about antenna installation, firmware updates, and message configuration to optimize your device’s performance in #OffGrid conditions."

Investigating the fact that my #tbeam battery doesn't charge. The outcome was that the USB port delivered not enough current.

On #reticulummeshchat #reticulum #reticulummesh #meshchat you can over #radio
1. run multiple #lora #rnodes on one computer.
2. make voice calls over #433mhz ( #ism band at low 12dBm power) between two #rnodes , but of course with delay.
I used #heltec #t114 (version 2 ) and two #lilygo #tbeam for
#VoiceCall #telephony
(un/like #meshtastic )
3. image files can also be transferred -

#meshtastic #tbeam What does the blinking red light shown mean?
-
#meshtastic Was using #tbeam as mobile device without decent case and found the antenna would go iffy at the connector so moved to using the #techo . Seems to be much more agreeable to carry around because it has a compact case. OK... it is a bit unwieldy with a souped-up aerial... ( https://www.taoglas.com/product/meteor-fw-86-868mhz-flexible-whip-smam/ ) but now I can fence with it too and can catch 🐟

However if one switches off the sun (lightbulb) the T-bat switches off (and T-beam switches off) - no lights on at all - the 5 V green output light is off on T-bat - i.e. the T-has not charged the battery significantly - and when one switches the sun back on the T-bat switches back on with green light on BUT the T-beam does not switch on immediately.... further testing of light cycling on & off is required. So has not been shown to switch node back on always. #tbeam #meshtastic #solarnode #tbat

#tbeam does not restart in the above setup.
I have instead tested using a #lilygo T-bat #Tbat , with a battery, connected to a #tbeam wherein the #team does not have a battery in it. In that setup the T-beam node appears to switch itself on in response to the T-bat being sufficiently charged. This behaviour is repeatable. #meshtastic #solarnode The test was done using a lightbulb as shown in the picture because the sun was not available...

When I try interfacing with the #tbeam over Web UI using its IP address, it does not show any sent messages and so I guess none were sent - my other nodes did not get any. Now I cannot go back to using bluetooth.... the device is just not emitting. Re-flash is the only option ?? #meshtastic #webui

Concerning the above: After 3 days, during which there was moderate sunshine, the T-bat is flat (the green light is off). The tbeam is at about 50% and still working... so now waiting for tbeam to drain flat on its own battery.... #tbat #tbeam #SolarNode #meshtastic

If the T-beam loses power, can it only be switched on by a manual button press?
Does that essentially rule it out as a place-and-forget solar node?
as seems to be suggested here...
https://github.com/meshtastic/firmware/issues/720 -
I cannot make head nor tail of how to control a T-beam via the web UI :
(a) does the T-beam have a wi-fi chip?
(b) What settings does the node have to have to make it appear in the LAN when inspecting the LAN / network in the home router that provides wi-fi.
(c) can these settingsin (b) be set via an initial bluetooth connection over a smartphone?
(d) Why does the meshtastic site say web client can be served directly from an ESP32 device?
🙏 for any enlightenment

Test: #lilygo #tbeam + #tbat + solar panel. 2 batteries: 1 in T-bat & 1 in T-beam. How long will this run for when sunshine is sparse? Will having 2 batteries help it last longer (panel output directly into T-beam lasted only 1 week). Why test? Can one use this as place & forget #solarnode? When T-beam battery runs out it needs a manual restart (bad for place & forget), but it can restart if gets clean 5V USB. Will T-bat solar-charge & make flat T-beam restart after it shut down? #meshtastic

Re flash (erase and flash) with latest stable software and not even radio works. Going back to earlier stable. Always says "GPS FactoryReset requested". Now radio works. GPS not after 15 mins. Never had this problem before on other Tbeams.#tbeam #lilygo #gps #meshtastic

#lilygo #tbeam 1.2 seems to have GPS issues. Mine won't get GPS location. Will wait to see if it sorts itself out. Link below even suggests app problem. https://github.com/meshtastic/firmware/issues/2838

Lilygo T-beam plugged into a 6W solar pannel via usb B to micro connector lasted a week placed under Velux roof window before a cloudy period resulted in the battery going flat (3.09V) due to not being charged by the sun enough & the device went into sleep mode. Not bad. (Lasts only 1 day on full battery alone.) #meshtastic #tbeam #SolarNode

How can one get the #UUID of a #tbeam if using an the android #meshtastic app to control the T-beam via bluetooth?

Is the #lilygo #tbeam supposed to keep dropping bluetooth connection with a device left in its vicinity? (power saving is off, tbeam has battery and solar and power is always present) #meshtastic

#Solar panel with USB A connector is plugged into the #lilygo #tbeam USB micro power in port. The tbeam has a 16850 3400 mAh Li-Ion 3.7 V battery. The panel & tbeam are behind a velux roof window angled at the sky. The sun is shining well today, no clouds. The t-beam shows 4.2 V plugged in symbol in the #meshtastic app. When unplugged from the panel, the t-beam shows 100% charge.

No. After a day of sunshine the T-bat is still charging and not fully charged (no green 'done' light) and the T-beam is empty 3% all the while. The setup Solar Panel -> T-bat -> T-beam does not seem to work. Perhaps when the T-bat stops charging from the sun, then it will charge the T-beam but I fear not. The drain of the T-beam is too great. #meshtastic #tbeam #tbat #SolarNode Is it not logical that same spec batteries cannot charge each other?
