any idea why meshcore with Ripple GUI for my #tdeck / #tdeckplus is unresponsive/lagging?
Meshtastic and MeshOS work fine.

Продолжаю рубрику "всратые железяки". Довольно давно мне подарили t-deck pro. Однако добрался до него только сейчас. Играюсь с lvgl, ковыряю заводскую прошивку и пытаюсь сделать что то приличное. Буду по мере успехов и косяков писать наверное. На фотке - написал пока основу модуля читалки. Как дошлифую и соберу побольше шишек от платформы, впихну русскоязычные шрифты перейду к Лоре, либо к 4г-модему/телефону. #tdeck

I'll be releasing the tech demo of my #Meshtastic firmware project for the #TDeck that lets you play #Pokemon or any other GB game on the TDeck inside the meshtastic firmware.
This is probably the first/only preview I will release before we get the Cable Club (PvP Battles) working over off grid meshtastic messages with no internet.

Wanted to update the firmware from Linux.

I managed using chromium and https://flasher.meshtastic.org/, but not until I restarted while holding down the scroll button, and running sudo setfacl -m u:avuko:rw /dev/ttyACM0.

Took me a blessed search to figure out this incantation, so this is my documentation.

Using a #steamdeck to flash #meshtastic nodes? Sure. 3 #SeeedXIAO , 2 #HeltecV3 , and an older #tdeck. Then to find places to set them up for coverage in the #Aberdeen area. After the snow...after

#Tdeck arrived last week.

Pretty cool device, though honestly, the #BruceFirmware has been far more interesting than Meshtastic so far.

Looks like my #lilygo #tdeck just cleared customs this past weekend.

Hopefully I'll get to play with it in the next week or two.

Like I mentioned, I don't know a lot about #MeshNetworks, but I'd love to know what others think of the #MeshTastic systems. This seems to be a pretty up-to-date guide on how to set up a Mesh network (there wasn't a date on the piece, but they referenced QR codes). Personally, I'd rather go the #HamRadio route, but there's a few hoops to jump through for that (like the Ham radio test and licensing).

IMHO, the #LILYGO #TDeck plus #meshtastic gadget is not worth the price of 90-100€ from a local distributor.

OK, it is a standalone device with a rudimentary keyboard and touchscreen, but there are more disadvantages, e.g.,

1. For setting up the device, you need to put it in a dedicated bluetooth mode and use an app on your mobile phone,

2. the GUI lacks many features of the app (such as a context menu for nodes),,

Finished my review and configuration guide of the Lilygo T-Deck Plus Meshtastic / LoRa radio. (This time with specs!)

All-in-all it's an interesting device, though the lack of a functional bluetooth radio while it's active is a real limiting factor in my use case, (as a personal radio that I can also use to remote admin other radios).

So I went on to resume my #Meshtastic experiments.

Yesterday used my #Wireguard VPN to broadcast my coordinates from the phone while the 868 MHz #tdeck was left at home on the wifi.

It worked just fine :)

FINALLY! A little clear time and headspace to work on a few bits and bobs. Been putting together my #tdeck #meshtastic setup, but I still also have my #picocalc and a wonderful @rc2014 picasso kit to put together! Progress in the coming weeks!

Can anyone recommend (based on your usage/experience) a decent GNSS (GPS, Galileo, etc.) module for #LilyGo #TDeck ?

Would like one that has an external antenna connector, possibly an onboard battery for hot-start and maybe the u-blox M9 or M10 chip as the core.

Rapidly moving my meshtastic nodes over to meshcore 🤘🏿

Going very smoothly so far. Meshcore is notably very fast at message delivery and delivery confirmations back to the sender.

Thinking I'll leave my primary meshtastic infrastructure nodes up and build meshcore nodes to deploy next to them so as the network matures I can do head to head comparisons.

My #Tdeck was working fine with the #meshtastic app. Then I tried switching to #WiFi mode (putting in SSID and wifi password) (because I wanted to make sure / test that the MQTT options would work - thinking that a WiFi connection would make any internet traffic better) but that makes the settings menu all greyed out so I cannot set it back to bluetooth only, nor switch off wifi… crumbs…#bricked ?

Should #WebSerialAPI work for #edge on #nixos ? Anyone manage ? Examples welcome of any working cases most welcome. I am looking at https://flasher.meshtastic.org/
which did not work for my nixOS #t480s trying to set up #meshtastic on #lilygo #tdeck #lilygotdeck . I seem to remember I always have to go to my windows machine to flash stuff... e.g. #RaspberryPi #sd .
