  1. The apps without icons seem so scammy. I know that’s probably not true, but that’s the vibe I get. Why do #indiedevs do it better than the big guys?

  10. @siracusa At the very least, if you can *only* have popup buttons that “hug" the title of the selected item, at least lower the compression resistance on the label so it truncates. This is NOT how you build UI. Look how the label will go into its own row if it doesn't fit vertically.

  11. Hmm, looks like either #macOS #SystemSettings' Storage screen can't add or it can't find all applications...

It says there are 509.26 GB of applications, but when I added up the claimed sizes from the same screen, it was only 312.04 GB 🤔

Thus, (at least) one of two things is wrong — either the displayed total is nearly 200 GB too large, or there are applications not in the list or with the wrong size in the list.

  12. It might come as a surprise, but people don’t interact with controls they can’t see.

The fact that you don’t show cursor in a text field doesn’t help either.

  13. OK, #macOS #SystemSettings, if it’s going to take you MORE THAN TWENTY SECONDS to respond to user input for the Startup Disk panel because of my high number of disks, MAYBE, just maybe, you should display some kind of progress bar or something, instead of making me think that you’re just, you know, completely broken (which, to be honest, you are, generally speaking).

Maybe? Please? I am asking nicely?

  14. Amazingly, after the upgrade from #Monterey to #Ventura, my keyboard navigation preference was actually preserved. (I use the ⇥ key to move around with the keyboard everywhere.)

That said, this badly cropped keyboard-navigation blue halo around the first item in the list of network interfaces in #SystemSettings in #macOS #Ventura is EXACTLY the level of polish and attention to detail that I am expecting from Apple these days.

  15. I find it strange that #macOS #Ventura #SystemSettings defaults to the Appearance tab. I guess it’s the most backwards compatible option, but General, User Info, or even About would be more logical and useful. #Apple

  16. Honestly, I see a bug like this and my only thought is, yeah, it be like that sometimes. #macOS #SystemSettings
