Okay I was brave and deleted all the files from my laptop, leaving only the copies on my new desktop. Transition complete.
I did go thru the high-level folders to make sure the sizes and item counts were consistent across both machines first.
The #GrandPerspective app is handy for visually profiling the result and not letting a few dozen stale gigs hide on you.
Feels nice to be not stuck in transition limbo anymore. I can dedicate the laptop to music and mobile uses.
