Interesting, they're using motorcycle riders who are ham radio operators to support a bicycling event out here (Ventura County, California).

"...I’m helping through another group (MARC - Motorcycling Amateur Radio Club) in assisting the Multiple Sclerosis folks with their event at the end of May - MS Los Angeles - Coastal Challenge. They have a 2 day event in Ventura on May 30-31. Basically a bicycle event to raise funds for MS - around the Ventura area and up to Ojai and back.
They’ve looking for SAG (Support and Gear) drivers to help out the riders - providing pumps, patches and rides for breakdowns (“sagging”). They’re even offering rental vehicles and rooms for anyone willing to help.
MARC will be running a net control alongside the MS folks and will have some motorcycles on the course. So, having SAG drivers that are hams would be a bonus - but not required.

A close friend of mine is running for Congress in California's central coast CA-24 district.
Sarah Bacon is my former boss who hired me into my first career job 20 years ago. I've always known her to be exceptionally sharp, passionate, and operate with integrity and ethics. I'd work for her again in an instant.
I have no interest in working in politics. I will definitely support her campaign however, and hope those in her district do too.

Portugal's centre-left Seguro will face far-right rival Ventura in presidential run-off.
Portugal’s Socialist candidate António José Seguro won the first round of the presidential election and will face far-right rival André Ventura in a run-off for the presidency, near-complete results showed on Sunday.
With 95% of the vote counted, Seguro led with 30.6 percent, ahead of Ventura with 24.2 percent.

Seguro só me tem desagradado... Até hoje. Neste debate, vi pela primeira vez um decente candidato presidencial, e principalmente vi alguém que conseguiu fazer algo que é muito difícil: manter a calma e rebater com civilidade às provocações de Ventura. Com elevação, Seguro sublinhou usando as palavras de Ventura porque é que V. não tem qualificação (ou até interesse) em desempenhar o papel de Presidente da República.
Que Seguro "ganhou o debate" já era para mim resultado pré-anunciado, mas Seguro conseguiu fazer uma coisa com que me surpreendeu: agora desgosto menos dele.

Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is
occurring or is imminent.* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 718 AM PST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain developing
across far western Ventura County and into eastern portion of
the Santa Barbara Channel. Short-duration intense bursts of
rainfall will occur across the advisory over the next several
hours. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in
the advisory area. Minor flooding of low-lying areas is
likely.

"Vandenberg Space Force Base Guardians and Airmen are scheduled to support the launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying 28 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit, Friday, October 3rd, between 6:00 - 10:00 a.m. PT from Space Launch Complex 4 East.
Based on Vandenberg SFB's updated audibility modeling, residents of Santa Barbara, Carpentaria, Ojai, Ventura, and Oxnard may hear a sonic boom approximately 8-10 minutes after launch, with the greatest likelihood of audibility in the Carpentaria, Ojai, Ventura, and Oxnard areas."

Finally out of my janky room in Highland Park. It's all cleaned out and I'm about to pack up the computer. Can't believe I put up with this place for 17 years. But it was really cheap for LA.
On to a life more in line with the way we were supposed to live. Mostly off grid up in the mountains of the Los Padres National Forest. I'll be coming back into the city about 2x per month for a 2-3 days at a time to do landscape maintenance - or longer if any of you want to do a bigger project, thanks to friends who have offered space to stay when I'm in town. And I'll now be more readily available for #Landscaping projects in #FrazierPark or #Ojai or #Ventura which will all be in commute distance.
