Alright it took me a minute and reading the docs to figure out adding a window to an app group in iPadOS 26 Stage Manager, so I'm writing it in a toot to help me internalize it.
If it's not in the Dock or Recent Apps stacks, tap App Library from the Dock. Type the name and then drag the icon and drop it on the group. Don't go back to Springboard; it's too many taps to bring all the windows together.

#StageManager が有効だと、ブラウザに表示された適当な英単語を Look up （自分の設定だと、三本指タップで Dictionaly\.app が開く）をすると、ブラウザが StageManager に吸い込まれて画面に 辞書\.app のウインドウだけが表示されちゃうから、永遠に Stage Manager となかよくなれる気がしない。
Stage Manager はマルチウインドウという Mac の OS の UI を思いっきり無視しちゃって、 iPadOS に載せるならまだわかるけど、 macOS にこの機能をもってくる意味がわからない。

W systemie iPadOS 18 usługa Stage Manager jest ograniczona do następujących modeli iPadów:

Nowością jest też system „świateł drogowych” znany z macOS, dzięki któremu zamykamy, minimalizujemy lub maksymalizujemy okienka.
Apple początkowo ograniczało funkcję ze względu na wydajność starszych urządzeń, jednak najwyraźniej zmieniło podejście. Nadal jednak tylko iPady z procesorem Apple M1 lub nowszym wspierają Stage Manager na zewnętrznych monitorach.
iPadOS 26 jest obecnie dostępny w wersji beta. Oficjalna premiera planowana jest na wrzesień 2025.

Craig Federighi w nowym wywiadzie wyjaśnia, dlaczego iPad potrzebował aż do iPadOS 26, by zyskać funkcje znane z Maca, mimo że od 2021 roku korzysta z tych samych chipów (np. Apple M1).
Największą nowością jest pełne zarządzanie oknami, dzięki czemu użytkownicy mogą swobodnie otwierać, rozmieszczać i nakładać na siebie aplikacje — a nawet korzystać z paska menu.
Federighi tłumaczy, że iPad jako urządzenie dotykowe musi reagować natychmiastowo na każdy gest. Nawet minimalne opóźnienia, akceptowalne na Macu, są nie do przyjęcia na iPadzie. Dopiero rozwój urządzenia — większe ekrany, rosnąca popularność klawiatur i gładzików — pozwolił pogodzić te wymagania z „makowymi” funkcjami.
Dlaczego to trwało tak długo?- Pierwsze iPady miały zbyt słabe podzespoły, aby obsługiwać dynamiczne okna i multitasking na poziomie Maca. Opierały się na uproszczonym iPhoneOS z jedną aplikacją na pełnym ekranie.
- iPad jest urządzeniem dotykowym – musi reagować natychmiast na każdy gest. Nawet małe opóźnienia, akceptowalne na Macu, łamią „umowę psychologiczną” między użytkownikiem a urządzeniem.
- Dodatkowo, aplikacje nie były projektowane z myślą o dynamicznej zmianie rozmiaru, co utrudniało wprowadzenie „okienek” jak na komputerze.
- Stage Manager (iPadOS 16) był próbą stworzenia systemu okien, ale działał tylko na najnowszych i najdroższych iPadach
- Apple chciało zagwarantować spójność: minimum 8 aplikacji naraz (4 wewnętrzne + 4 zewnętrzne).
- Nowy system w iPadOS 26 jest odbudowany od zera – zoptymalizowano zarządzanie oknami i procesami w tle, co pozwoliło rozszerzyć kompatybilność także na starsze urządzenia.
- Na starszym sprzęcie nadal będą ograniczenia w liczbie aktywnych okien.
- Niektóre funkcje, jak pełna obsługa wielu monitorów, pozostaną dostępne tylko na mocniejszych iPadach.
- Procesy działające w tle są ograniczone do tych z konkretnym zakończeniem (np. eksport wideo), co wyklucza np. ciągłe działanie agenta systemowego.

Dziwne jest to tłumaczenie, ponieważ do iPada mini klawiatur prawie nie ma na rynku, a i tak otrzyma nowe zarządzanie oknami, ale OK — nie ma co narzekać.

Apple bloopers
Apparently there is no way to remove #StageManager, which I am not using, from ControlCenter. Why the hell can't I remove items, that I am not using from #ControlCenter?!
Another #darkpattern, where Apple is trying to force their ineffective workflows down users throats.
Poor design decisions like this are driving me towards Linux. -

After a few days of using StageManager, I've decided to ditch it.
While it's aesthetically pleasing, I found it to be less good at actual window manager than just things arranged on the desktop, or full screened and swiping. -
I'm eager to see all the of the ways #StageManager will let me down in #iPadOS 18!

Stage manager is becoming my favorite way to use Mac, but they need to fix the issue with using an app on multiple monitors. If I have slack windows on different screens I don’t want them to all come forward when I click on one.
I wonder how many people at Apple actually use stage manager and multiple monitors.

It is a bad port of a compromised #iPad window management system.
Hell, apps don’t even remain stable on a given space or screen between launches or attaching/detaching from a second monitor.
I’d go insane if I didn’t have https://manytricks.com/moom to tile and store window layouts.

なんというか、基本的な印象はモーダルな UI だった #iPadOS の画面切り替え機能を #macOS にもついでに持ってきた感が強くて、今も本当に #macOS に #StageManager が必要なのかどうかは懐疑的なところはあるんだけど、「現在稼働しているアプリを使用履歴順で並べて、かつウインドウを一覧表示した UI」というのは #StageManager にしかできないものかも、と思った。
#macOS の伝統的なアプリスイッチャー（⌘ + Tab）だと、使用履歴順に並んではいるけど、アプリアイコンしか見られない。
逆に #MissionControl（旧 Expose）だと、ウインドウを一覧表示することはできるんだけど、使用履歴が分かりづらい。
#StageManager その両方のいいとこ取りみたいなことをしたい UI と考えると、ちょっと存在意義はあるかも、と思った。
ただ、直近の4アプリくらいしか表示できなかったり（13inch の場合）、デスクトップ上でアプリをまたがってウインドウを重ねることが出来ないのはやっぱり副作用として痛すぎる気はまだする…
