Co wiemy o iPadzie Pro z Apple M5?

Serwis 9to5mac donosi, że w przypadku nadchodzącego iPada Pro z procesorem Apple M5 kluczowym słowem w przekazie sprzedażowym tego urządzenia bedzie — „wszechstronność” (ang. versatility).

Apple prawdopodobnie właśnie na tym aspekcie oprze marketing nowego modelu.

Co nowego czeka nas w tym modelu, jeśli wierzyć ostatnim plotkom?

• Procesor M5 – oczywisty upgrade wydajności (zapewne znowu wyprzedzający Maki).
• Brak dużych zmian sprzętowych – nie zapowiada się rewolucja w designie po tym, co pokazano przy M4.
• iPadOS 26 będzie kluczowy: więcej funkcji zwiększających produktywność (np. Stage Manager 2.0, menu jak na Macu, lepsze zarządzanie oknami aplikacji).

Apple chce podkreślić wszechstronność nowych iPadów Pro w trzech segmentach. Nowy iPad Pro ma być:

• intuicyjny i pozwalający na pracę w skupieniu – dla osób korzystających z jednej aplikacji na raz,
• bliski komputerowi Mac – z bardziej zaawansowanymi funkcjami przypominającymi macOS,
• zaspokajający potrzeby segmentu użytkowników Pro  – dzięki wsparciu dla zewnętrznego ekranu Apple Studio Display, którego nową wersję Apple też ma rzekomo zaprezentować tej jesieni.

Jeśli macie już iPada Pro z Apple M4 – na 100% nie warto się będzie przesiadać na nowszy model, chyba że potrzebujecie absolutnego topu wydajności w tablecie.

Apple bloopers

Apparently there is no way to remove #StageManager, which I am not using, from ControlCenter. Why the hell can't I remove items, that I am not using from #ControlCenter?!

Another #darkpattern, where Apple is trying to force their ineffective workflows down users throats.

Poor design decisions like this are driving me towards Linux.

My biggest grip about Stage Manager is with the iPad’s home screen
As much as I like Stage Manager in iOS 17, there’s one thing that drive me nuts - you can’t access it from the Home Screen. You can’t even it see it from the Home Screen.

@philsplace I am ignoring the existence of #StageManager on #macOS until #Apple reconciles it with #MissionControl, spaces (virtual desktops and full/split-screen apps), and multiple monitors.

It is a bad port of a compromised #iPad window management system.

Hell, apps don’t even remain stable on a given space or screen between launches or attaching/detaching from a second monitor.

I’d go insane if I didn’t have https://manytricks.com/moom to tile and store window layouts.

I'm glad that Stage Manager got some attention on the iPad this year, even though I don't use an iPad, because it shows Apple is committed to the feature. I've been using it full-time on macOS since around this time last summer, and at this point I have no plans to go back.

あと #StageManager を有効にしてると #MissionControl 起動した時のアニメーションとかがちょっともっさりする。
これも副作用のような。

逆にウインドウを重ねて表示してないから、前面のアプリ以外を隠してるような状態になってて通常時の負荷が下がるとかそういうメリットがあったりするのかな？（調べてはいない

なんというか、基本的な印象はモーダルな UI だった #iPadOS の画面切り替え機能を #macOS にもついでに持ってきた感が強くて、今も本当に #macOS に #StageManager が必要なのかどうかは懐疑的なところはあるんだけど、「現在稼働しているアプリを使用履歴順で並べて、かつウインドウを一覧表示した UI」というのは #StageManager にしかできないものかも、と思った。

#macOS の伝統的なアプリスイッチャー（⌘ + Tab）だと、使用履歴順に並んではいるけど、アプリアイコンしか見られない。

逆に #MissionControl（旧 Expose）だと、ウインドウを一覧表示することはできるんだけど、使用履歴が分かりづらい。

#StageManager その両方のいいとこ取りみたいなことをしたい UI と考えると、ちょっと存在意義はあるかも、と思った。

ただ、直近の4アプリくらいしか表示できなかったり（13inch の場合）、デスクトップ上でアプリをまたがってウインドウを重ねることが出来ないのはやっぱり副作用として痛すぎる気はまだする…

I sometimes wish apps other than #Safari, such as #Pages, supported #TabGroups so I that could easily switch to a bunch of documents I’m using for a particular project without having to open each of them individually. But then isn’t that what #StageManager is for?

Unfortunately, SM fails to do that because SM window layouts (unlike Safari tab groups) do not persist between logins. I hope #Apple will fix this and make SM genuinely useful in the next version of #macOS, but I’m not holding my breath. #UX #UXFail
