Pisałem już o tym, na jakie funkcje iOS czekamy w Nowym Roku. Przyjrzyjmy się teraz produktom Apple, które raczej nie zadebiutują w najbliższych 12 miesiącach.

Nowy AirTag

Produkcja AirTagów 2. gen. miała rozpocząć się w czwartym kwartale 2024 roku, ale najnowsza prognoza analityka Apple Ming-Chi Kuo twierdzi, że akcesorium nie osiągnie masowej produkcji i nie zostanie wydane do 2025 roku.

Kuo dodaje jednocześnie, że nowy AirTag będzie częścią tworzonego przez Apple ekosystemu obliczeń przestrzennych i będzie wykorzystywany z headsetem Apple Vision Pro.

Apple Watch Ultra z ekranem microLED

Pierwszym urządzeniem Apple oferującym wyświetlacz microLED będzie na 99% nowy model Apple Watcha Ultra, ale wydany dopiero pod koniec 2025 lub 2026 roku. W rzeczywistości Apple może nie zaktualizować Apple Watch Ultra w 2024 roku i przeczekać ten czas do momentu wprowadzenia dużych zmian związanych z przejściem na microLED i odchudzeniem urządzenia,

Apple potwierdziło, że nie zamierza inwestować w większego od 24-calowego iMaca dla zwykłych klientów. Plotki donoszą jednak, że firma podobno wciąż pracuje nad iMakiem Pro z 32-calowym wyświetlaczem mini-LED i większym wyborem portów.

Mark Gurman z Bloomberga pisał, że taka maszyna może zadebiutować pod koniec 2024 lub 2025 roku, ale osobiście uważam, że w ciągu najbliższych 5 lat jej nie zobaczymy.

Składany iPhone lub iPad

Apple pracuje nad technologią składanych wyświetlaczy od wielu lat, zgłaszając wiele patentów związanych z tą technologią, ale premiera składanego iPhone’a lub iPada wciąż wydaje się być dość odległa.

Rozmaici analitycy osadzają swoje prognozy dotyczące premiery tego urządzenia gdzieś w okolicach rok 2026 lub 2028, ale spodziewam się, że raczej ten drugi będzie dla Apple jakkolwiek realnym terminem. Pamiętajmy, że firma wchodzi na kolejne rynki i podpina się do panujących trendów – jako ostatnia, o ile sama ich nie wyznacza. Bardzo możliwe, że Apple przy okazji premiery składanego smartfona lub iPada będzie chciało zredefiniować tę kategorię produktów, a do tego potrzeba czasu.

You know, in the spirit of YOLO, I’ve been agonizing over my #Apple Studio Display…

I bought the standard glass as soon as it was up for pre-order. And it never occurred to me to even look at the nano texture.

Which was fine — at the time, it was going to sit next to an #iMacPro. So I wanted the same polished glass.

But, now, the iMac Pro is gone, I’ve got a Mac Studio, in a different location, with lots of backlight reflections, and I’m wrecked I didn’t get the nano texture.

I have a 64gb #iMacPro, and I just got an #m2max #macStudio to replace it. I got #64gb ram, but I’m not very confident about that choice (should I have gotten 96?).

The iMac Pro served me *very very* well for 5+ years. Really over served, TBH. Not sure I ever really taxed it heavily very often?

What would you all say at this point, regarding ram quantities in new M2 macs?

It’s also amazing how close the #MacMini with #M2Pro comes to matching the specs of its taller and more expensive sibling, the #MacStudio. Of course, that has yet to receive an #M2 update and is available in more powerful configurations, but for many users Mac mini will be the sweet spot between price and performance. Any tricks to getting #linux installed on my iMac Pro? (Dual-boot, VM compute is terrible.) Tried a couple of installers, but they reboot after select Try/Install.

Nothing on t2linux.org that helps.
