has anyone managed to get their paws on an ANKO smart tag and has reprogrammed the alert tone on it?

Our boywife @circus wants another tune to play on it rather than the factory tone.

Well, it seems that #Samsung 's 'Find My' network of devices used to locate their #SmartTag is a lot stronger/more reliable than #Apple 's poor Find My network for their #AirTag - even in a country like Australia.

Not surprising really, I reckon it's not even got to do with there being more Samsung devices than Apple devices - just somehow Apple's implementation of pinging/relaying these AirTag locations being poor.

I've a bunch of these AirTags on my bags, car, etc. that I track and they've always been dodgy, even when having a bunch of iPhones around. These 'location relaying nodes' should really consolidate all Apple and #Android devices together, so that these trackers could actually become more useful and reliable, even without GPS.

Quelqu'un utilisateur régulier de #tag ou #smarttag de localisation sous #android ? L'idée est séduisante, mais j'ai un doute sur la réelle utilité, hors peut-être le suivi de bagage si on prend l'avion ... pour le #vélo, j'imagine que le truc est tellement connu des voleurs, qu'au mieux, on retrouve le tag seul dans un buisson… Bref, pour 30 à 40€, j'ai un doute sur la pertinence de l'achat ! Merci pour vos retours !

I thought #Samsung #SmartTag worked with all #Android phones with the Smartthings app installed, but no, it only works with the Galaxy phones. Apple-level vendor lock-in. Can't recommend it.

Es piept, wenn man kurz einmal auf den rechten Bereich tippt.

Es gibt irgendein Gummiteil was man links rein machen kann. Ich hätte gedacht da kommt eine #Knopfzelle rein.

Aber auch ohne diese hat es offenbar Strom (siehe piepen).

Nach Packung ist es ein #Galaxy #SmartTag 2 (ähnl wie #AirTag), aber da sieht das ganze irgendwie anders aus (mit Loch und ohne uhrartige Befestigung) #ding #samsung

Cool, getting rid of the #TouchNGo monopoly is always good but I still only use it bcos to my mind they still have the monopoly as the sole provider that supports a "tapless" transaction mode i.e. #SmartTag.

We genuinely need #ERP a la Singapore faster instead of wasting time on this. Singapore has implemented this longer than I've lived, and last I checked they're already starting or planning to phase ERP out for something satellite-based. I know time moves slower around here but faster a bit la please.

#Samsung #Smarttag has discharged again without me noticing. I'm pretty sure it didn't show any notification. It's "great" to find out when you're looking for keys that the last time the smarttag attached to them reported its location was 2 months ago. 🤦
