Another absurd thing about surfing websites:

  3. Google's new remote attestation scheme is every bit as terrible as its old remote attestation scheme

#Google owes its existence to the open web, but today, its technological “innovations” have much to do with locking users into a “walled garden.” The latest of these is “reCAPTCHA Mobile Verification,” an experimental initiative that will let companies block users if they are running independent, "de-googled" versions of #Android. These “indie Android” versions are favored by people who want to protect their #privacy and their attention by blocking #trackers and #ads. Worse, this is just the latest in a line of similarly user-hostile measures.

  4. @AnachronistJohn @JessTheUnstill #teams , the *only* #gafam tool that i still have to use (only through a secure web browser, a #VPN and all #trackers blocked 😂).

I could convince my school to ditch #microsoft on 150 students computers... Next step is to have it out of staff computers. Hard but feasible! 💪

  5. This is what the #WWW has become. A website with 38 #trackers (20% of its content).

I do not even understand how the #SEO people can make sense of this.

Is regular people aware of all the #surveillance and lack or #privacy that goes on while visiting websites?

  7. Hello all. I have started work to collect sounds from old synths samplers and toys, collecting work from all places on the net to keep these things alive. If you wish to help me out with or have something I don't let me know! I've set up a folder so all can join on syncthing, but if yall want to I can always put it up on Resilio or something.

  8. This Company Will Add #Phone , #AirPod , and #Smartwatch #Trackers to #LicensePlate Readers

A #surveillance company plans to add #sensors to automatic license plate readers (ALPRs) that would mean the devices, as well as capture the license plate of passing vehicles, would also sweep up unique identifiers of mobile phones, wearables, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices in those cars, potentially letting law enforcement identify specific drivers or passengers.

The technology, called #SignalTrace , would turn #ALPR #cameras from devices focused on #tracking cars to ones that can more readily track the location of particular people. ALPR cameras have become a commonly deployed technology all across the U.S.; SignalTrace would make some of those cameras capable of collecting much more data.
