  3. Sign on the side of the road on US Hwy 101 entering Sequim, Washington. The local herd of Roosevelt Elk are fitted with radio collars that activate the flashing lights warning motorists that the Elk are nearby and could cross the highway.

  5. A Roosevelt Elk Bull in Sequim, Washington.

    From Wikipedia...

    The largest species of Elk in N. America, named after Theodore Roosevelt by a friend of his in 1897. Protecting the Roosevelt elk was the main reason for the creation of Mount Olympus National Monument in 1909 by President Theodore Roosevelt. In 1937, President Franklin D. Roosevelt visited the region and saw the elk named after his cousin. The following year he created Olympic National Park.
