  1. Huntly wind farm plans sees fears voiced over possible water supply disruption #SCT: Fears have been voiced that a proposed Aberdeenshire wind farm could leave local residents with no water supplies. Dunscroft Wind Farm project would, if given the green light by planners, see thirteen 200m high turbines erected 2km south west Huntly near Clashmach Hill. Behind the project, which is currently at the scoping stage, is London-based energy firm Low Carbon. One of… wind-watch.org/news/2026/10/15 #windenergy

  2. Offshore wind turbine foundations may cool ocean surface by mixing seawater #SCT: New research within the PELAgIO ECOWind project has revealed how offshore wind farms can influence ocean temperatures and mixing, and why their effects depend on local conditions. As offshore wind farms become an increasing part of the U.K.’s renewable energy future, scientists are working to better understand how they interact with the marine environment. A team of scientists,… wind-watch.org/news/2026/10/09 #windenergy

  3. (archive: 2021) Responses of dispersing GPS-tagged Golden Eagles (Aquila chrysaetos) to multiple wind farms across Scotland #SCT: Abstract: Wind farms may have two broad potential adverse effects on birds via antagonistic processes: displacement from the vicinity of turbines (avoidance), or death through collision with rotating turbine blades. Large raptors are often shown or presumed to be vulnerable to collision and are demographically sensitive to… wind-watch.org/documents/respo #windenergy

  5. The new Highlands goldrush: Just how green is the industrial-scale wind turbine business? #SCT: The sun is out, the wind is light and visibility excellent, but I can’t head for the hills today, so, I lace up my trail shoes and go for a local run. My choice of route is obvious. A short section of tarmac leads to a wide, gravel road. I follow this up south facing slopes, with views opening up all the way. At the top I reach my local windfarm, one of two… wind-watch.org/news/2026/09/27 #windenergy

  6. Turbine destroyed by fire at Whitelee Windfarm near Glasgow #SCT: A fire has devastated a turbine at the UK’s largest onshore windfarm, and a safety exclusion zone has been set up around the stricken structure. Pictures shared with The Herald show the turbine’s charred head, along with the blackened blades attached to the around 65-metre-tall hub. On Thursday, one of Whitelee Windfarm’s 215 turbines was engulfed in flames, leaving the burnt-out shell at the… wind-watch.org/news/2026/09/23 #windenergy

  7. Olrig wind farm ‘will still completely dominate our landscape’ despite lower turbines #SCT: Opponents of a wind farm proposed for Olrig Hill have dismissed adjustments to the scheme as “cosmetic changes” and claimed that it will still “completely dominate” the landscape. As well as concerns over the visual impact of the four turbines, despite a reduction in their size, fears persist that a battery energy storage system (BESS) represents “a major safety risk”… wind-watch.org/news/2026/09/18 #windenergy

The charity has delivered 129 handwritten postcards, one for every MSP, to the… wind-watch.org/news/2026/09/12 #windenergy

  9. £250 off bills – is it compensation or contempt for rural Scotland? #SCT (letter): I’m not sure what planet the UK Government is orbiting with its insulting offer of £250 off electricity bills for ten years in exchange for households hosting vast new transmission infrastructure. This is not compensation – it is contempt. Peanuts for the peasants. Communities across rural Scotland are at the end of their tether, facing multiple applications, public inquiries,… wind-watch.org/news/2026/09/07 #windenergy

  10. Literally wiped off the map: the insult of the Pollie Hill consultation #SCT (letter): Like many other readers, we received an invitation to the public “consultation” for the proposed Pollie Hill Wind Farm. Setting aside the somewhat short notice of this important meeting, what struck me most was the map of the proposed development illustrated on the card. It is a map of the outline of this seemingly innocuous development, which appears to be set in the… wind-watch.org/news/2026/09/07 #windenergy

  11. Strath and Glens ‘overwhelmed’ by scale of planned energy proposals #SCT (letter): Whilst the outline draft plans for Invercassley’s 20-turbine wind farm have been known for some time, Fred Olsen, the developer, now proposes to press ahead with them (The Northern Times, August 14.), the site put forward being just north of Rosehall village on Balnagowan estate land owned by the Al Fayed family. 31.

  45. Jak skutecznie wdrożyć Strefę Czystego Transportu w Krakowie?

    Wprowadzenie

    1. Postaw na realne ograniczenia, nie półśrodki

SCT powinna mieć ambitne i jasne cele środowiskowe.

    • Wykluczyć zbyt szerokie katalogi wyjątków – one osłabiają zaufanie do polityki miejskiej.

„szkolne ulice”).
    • Promować rower i ruch pieszy – rozbudowa tras, systemy rowerów miejskich, zachęty finansowe i infrastrukturalne.

Komunikacja powinna:

    • Akcentować cel zdrowotny i sprawiedliwość społeczną (np. ochrona zdrowia dzieci, seniorów).
    • Opierać się na konkretnych efektach, np. skrócenie czasu dojazdu komunikacją, poprawa jakości powietrza, bezpieczeństwo.
Wyprzedzać obawy: jasno tłumaczyć, kogo dotyczą ograniczenia, jak można się przygotować, gdzie uzyskać pomoc.

    5. Planuj z wyprzedzeniem, działaj etapami

Wdrożenie SCT powinno być przemyślane, zaplanowane w kilku krokach:

    • Etap 1: komunikacja i konsultacje – pokazanie planu, zbieranie opinii.
    • Etap 2: testowa strefa z monitoringiem – pierwsze wdrożenie w wybranej dzielnicy.
    • Etap 3: stopniowe zaostrzenia wymagań – z odpowiednim wyprzedzeniem i wsparciem.

    6. Monitoruj i poprawiaj

SCT to proces, nie jednorazowa decyzja. Miasto powinno:

    • Prowadzić monitoring jakości powietrza i ruchu drogowego.
    • Sprawdzać efekty wdrożenia i reagować na problemy.
    • Utrzymywać stały kontakt z mieszkańcami – infolinię, punkty informacyjne, możliwość zgłaszania uwag.

    Podsumowanie

Possibly as a result, it has foreseeable flaws, including no clear enforcement mechanism. Definitely half a loaf, and half-baked at that.
