Not sure anyone in the public can really appreciate how aggressive malicious bots and bad actors are on the internet now days. I know I didn’t till I set up a little web server with a vanity site. I’ve spent the last five minutes watching wave after wave of random addresses try to attack it. 50+ addresses were automatically banned in that time.

The funny thing with this #mastodon expansion is that I connect with the inner #ScriptKiddie #PHP #SQL coder #Webdeveloper that I was growing up in my teens in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

20 years later as a Prof of #Economics I reflect how this has helped me become professionally who I am now.

Connecting with coders and people with a similar vibe on here does feel quite nice 🙂
