Garbage - Lie to Me (EP)
A special release for RSD2024 - three previously unreleased tracks and a remix.
Lie to Me is quite interesting in that the chorus seems to be sung by the band, rather than just by Shirley...as I recall, she mostly harmonizes with herself on recordings.
Anyway, you get an idea from the title what you're in for… nice that they're supporting independent stores with the release.

1983 at the Royal Albert Hall - Siouxie and the Banshees had lost guitarist John McGeoch to various issues, and he was replaced by…
Robert Smith of the Cure, who was in two bands at once. (Three if you could The Glove.)
This is a very well recorded live album, given a new mastering for RSD24. Lots of emphasis on Severin's bass.
(The cover of Dear Prudence was a big hit.)

Don't feed the scalpers! I get this is a limited run release and that some will be disappointed not to have got a copy yesterday, but it was £15 on the day, and these two at least have been bought simply to sell on. That's not fair on genuine fans. #recordstoreday #rsd2024 #music #vinylrecords

An LP’s worth of tunes.

Traveling to the 1950s for a show by one the great jazz singers and pianists. This was recorded by the club owner in 1953 during Nat King Cole's residency at the Blue Note Chicago jazz club.
The album comes with a nice write-up that puts you right there a few feet from the stage.

Weekend acquisitions. This Teac EQ needs a little work. Looks great cosmetically, but the lower freq. aren't showing on the display -- which works as it 'blips' on power-on.
And took a trip to a local record shoppe on #RecordStoreDay
Wasn't really looking for anything, and this place didn't have lines or crowds when it opened, and it didn't get a whole lot of #RSD stock. I made do since I didn't own a #vinyl copy of Rumors, this works.

Side point : I have this record already, picked it up 30 years ago for about £2 when people weren’t particularly into Sparks or vinyl, and got Ron & Russell to sign it, it’s fluorescent yellow and sounds incredible.

#RSD2024 success. After queuing for over an hour from 7:45, then being told they'd sold the last one, I in fact found the one record I'd gone for - Nerina Pallot's Love Will Tear Us Apart - Phew!
Temptation made me get a couple of others too (Billie Eilish, Raye). Soz wallet!

Annual reminder that before online music distribution was a Thing, access for independent artists to promote and sell their work was highly restricted, controlled by a cartel, and available only to an elite few, and the people who ran shops controlled what music you could buy and listen to. #RecordStoreDay #RecordStoreDay2024 #RSD2024
