Guys, a little help over here.
Have you seen the #PrimeVideo series #AlexCross? There is the fragment of a melody that the protagonist plays on the piano to wake up his children and call them down for breakfast. It’s a short loop.
It sounds a lot like #MilesDavis “So what”, but I’m not quite sure, it could also be a piece by #CharlesMingus (I’m even fuzzier on this respect).
Any ideas? It’s quite distinctive but I’m just not that versed on #jazz

#NowSpinning #Pre-Bird by #CharlesMingus. I’m an avid #Mingus fan & whilst this is some way from peak, I pleased to add this to my collection.
This is from the #AcousticSounds #Verve series, cut by #RyanKSmith from the original tapes - & it sounds incredible.
As always with AS, the jacket, the pressing, & the SQ are bang on.

Sunday afternoon & first record of 2023 is #CharlesMingus, #TheBlackSaintAndTheSinnerLady.
I’ve turned into something of a Mingus nut with this replacing #AhUm as my favourite of his studio albums (although #TheClown runs close). I just love the huge swell & surge of the horns - reminds me of an unhinged Bernard Herrmann score.
Cut by #RyanKSmith for the #AcousticSounds #Impulse series this is rich, bombastic, with mad dynamics.
