The ranged combat in Team Innocent might be a little rubbish.
But this is hands downs the worst part of the game...

So, I can finally give some proper words on Team Innocent: The Point of New Return for the #PCFX
I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this game. I had a few concerns about, perhaps, not being able to navigate or find things, but despite that I didn't struggle with finding key items or getting lost in the maps.
Ultimately, it delivered a really enjoyable experience for me. I don't recall their being any moon logic puzzles, though plenty of superfluous items, especially in Mission 1.
Where the game sadly falls apart is the combat. Melee combat works fine, I didn't struggle to find my mark. Ranged weapons, however, play no animations when fired, and no projectiles are on screen. The only way I knew I was damaging things was when they flashed or staggered back.
Graciously, combat is not a major focus and not taxing, just a little underwhelming. So, it being under utilised is probably a good thing.
I'll be working on the full blog post today and tomorrow.

So, doing some research into the PC-FX.
The poor bastard didn't stand a chance, did they?
Winter 1994 was a crazy time for console releases, with the Playstation 1, Sega Saturn and even the Atari Jaguar edged out slightly earlier Japanese release dates than the PC-FX.Lacking a 3D polygon chip as well possibly contributed to the commercial failure, even if 3D at the time was looking rough, it was still an exciting advance in gaming technology that would have caught consumer attention.
There is obviously much more going on, delays, developer support, costs, etc. But the competition landscape was definitely something that immediately caught my attention.
So, yeah, as I prepare for my write up of Team Innocent, I think a deep dive into the PC-FX is warranted. Even if all it does is just inflate my word count.

Kinda obsessed about the sleeping hardware in this thing and the possibility you can put extensions in form of modules in that thing, make me wonder what could be if someone finished the planned but never released 3D accelerator for it. #NEC #PCFX #PCEngine #HudsonSoft

The #PCEngine is known as a shmup machine, but its doomed follow-up the #PCFX only had one: Chōshin Heiki #Zeroigar. Full of anime cutcenes and with the score doubling as exp to level up (the game throws a lot at you, even on easy) #Shmuptember

Played a bit of godfighter #Zeroigar on the #NEC #PCFX tonight.
It's a cool game but hard as hell and the controllers aren't helping to make it easier.😄

Newest addition to the collection is this Japanese #NEC #PCFX console with 4 games.
It is the successor to the popular #PCEngine but was a commercial failure.
It has a limited games library of 62 games with one(!) shmup.

#RetroAchievments has its first #PCFX cheevo set. Really excited to see these come out since I am a loser that has false nostalgia for that era of games/anime.
