After playing Aleste, it was kinda nice to play an easier #SHMUP though, what I will say about Legendary Wings, is that it was perhaps too easy?
It combines top down and side scrolling gameplay, and two weapons, a main gun and bombs for targets on the ground.
Despite this... There was a distinct lack of variety in this game, with all the sub-bosses and main bosses effectively being the same.
But for what it is, it was still an enjoyable game despite some jank with taking damage temporarily removing your collision for a second, meaning you can clip into and get stuck into walls.
Artistically the game is bizarre as well, with Egyptian motifs, tech bases and even weird fleshy horror caves.
Though, one thing I will say, the box art of the man with wings, flying past a weird large yellow head in the ground is absolutely not a lie!
All in all, it is nothing particularly special, but it is a nice breezy play at about 30 - 40 minute for a run.

After some absolute sweaty gameplay, I have finally beaten #Aleste 2 on the #MSX
Playing this game on Oni difficulty is not recommended in the slightest. Even on Hito difficulty the game is a challenge. Perhaps for those who are quite experienced with SHMUPs will find this would be reasonable breeze, but I often found myself in ridiculous death spirals at times and leaking lives because having no power-ups forces you to play aggressively evasive until you recover.
Thankfully, your dying explosion functions a bit like a bomb, allowing you to thin out some of the enemies and bullets on screen.
I swear, if it wasn't for weapon 6, which is a grenade style weapon that could neutralise certain enemy bullets your normal weapons couldn't, I probably would have not gotten anywhere near the end of this one.
The funniest part of the game, is that after beating the final boss, you given 50,000,000 points, which gives you about 60 lives!
