Just learned the #OmnivoreApp is shutting down at the end of the month.
Have never found a "read it later" workflow that works for me, but I liked a number of features about Omnivore.
Probably time to go hunting for an alternative, preferably something with good #RSS features... I've been wanting to get back to RSS as a way of getting out of the email inbox...

I literally started playing around with #Omnivore a few days ago 😭 I was so excited to support a FOSS read later app and integrate it into my workflow.
I guess I don't have to choose between it and #ReadwiseReader anymore, but I really liked what I seen from Omnivore...man.

So, #Omnivore #omnivoreapp just got sold to #ElevenLabs, an AI-powered reading app. Omnivore shuts down but remains open-source, pretty much the only „good“ thing about that acquisition.
The founders are „thrilled about this opportunity“.
This gets tiring …

@borisv after some research I'll go with the last Ipad Air. (Just waiting for the restock at my tech shop). I need #zotero for pdfs and epubs, #obsidianmd, #omnivoreapp for saved articles and #netnewswire for #rss. Extra: photo editing with the Pencil Pro. Second choice was Boox tablet, because they run on Android and can use all of the above. Not using Amazon at all. Hope it helps in your decision.

The only reason I was still using Pocket alongside @omnivore was to access all my saved articles via an #RSS link provided by Pocket. This way, I could just access the articles in my RSS reader instead of having to open a separate app or web page.
I've just found out today that this feature has been discontinued (and I found out the hard way, via #FreshRSS).
What a bummer!!

@tcoopman #omnivoreapp looks nice- a better strategy than my current approach of just having 200 open browser tabs 🤣
For syncing I've put the notes in a git repo which is working fine so far... fully automated on the desktop but a bit manual on the phone. Will checkout syncthing, thanks!

@audricd #OmnivoreApp es un poco más "para leer después", rollo #Pocket, pero tiene para agregar RSS e incluso suscribirte a newsletters. Tiene app para Android, y en el ordenador se puede usar desde el navegador.

Trying out @omnivore and am pretty happy with it! It doesn't play as friendly with Firefox, but fixed it thanks to their docs (yay #techwriting) and was sad text to speech not available for Androids yet. I do depend on it a bit. (I like to listen to articles while working out.)
But the thing that I am super excited about, besides it being open source is that it can funnel your articles to #Obsidian.I have to admit my current system isn't working for me.
