Sleepless again
In the wee hours
With nothing more
Than the easy target
Of an empty mindThe darkness
Wields the power
To obliterate hope
To nurture doubt
Until there is no chance of sleepA chair waits in the corner
While my love
Is wrapped
In the peace
Of restful slumberA well-used blanket
And a humble book
Together with time
Will light the way
To rest, to peaceThe oppressive night
Cannot stand against
Even the faintest light
As it simply

Literally: unwrite, scrub out what
Is written. What has been written
Can never be unwritten - a fallacy.
Everything can be destroyed except
Matter. I don't think my words will
Reconstitute themselves when they've
Been burned or have mouldered away,
And even if it isn't until the sun
Consumes the Earth at the end of time.
There may be souls who wander the
Voids of the dead universe who
Will recite what we have scribed.
