So tonight's the night. Introduced the kids to 1995's "Hackers" for family movie night. They enjoyed it, and that makes me happy.
As silly as it sounds, this movie was influential in my early days. I had gotten into the computer scene young, 1980's young. I was at a keyboard on the living room TV before I knew the alphabet. My dad had an atari computer, and he had some learning games that he and I would play when I was learning those fundamentals. Well as a teen, that turned into being into the BBS scene, and downloading text files, and all those things that i probably shouldn't have. Pieces like the Mentor's last words (hackers manifesto) were familiar to me even before they were featured in the movie. I was a teen when Hackers came out, and man, did i love that movie. It made me see computers, a thing that just got me made fun of most of the time, as cool. As culture.
But I wanted the kids to see the full text, because I found it really impactful, so I did some searches to find it online somewhere, and guess what I found.

So I sent them that, they probably wont read it, but maybe they will, and they'll get a glimpse of their dad from before they were alive. The internet's a weird place sometimes.

Ich finds cool, dass sie so offen für #SmartHome ist. Bin gespannt was sie dazu sagt, dass die Rollos in #HomeAssistant nutzbar sind wenn sie zurück kommt.

I’m a #research #software #engineer doing #hpc at the #BlueBrainProject 🧠🇨🇭 . I mostly program in #C++ and #Python after having done a few years of #Fortran. I just love nerding out on computers from #raspberrypi’s to petascale clusters. What has been though consuming most of my love and passion for the last 2.5 years is #parenthood trying to be good a #NerdDad to a wonderful daughter! I hope to soon find more time for #ScubaDiving, #photography, #gardening, #hacking
