Google Chrome blockt uBlock Origin & Co.

Nun ist es bald soweit. Es gibt Berichte, dass Google relevante Flags für MV2-Erweiterungen entfernt. Damit können Erweiterungen wie uBlock Origin und Co. nicht mehr installiert werden. Das bedeutet, es können keine Erweiterungen mehr eingesetzt werden, die Werbung, Tracking und dergleichen blockieren und Benutzer davor schützen – zumindest nicht, basierend auf die alte MV2-Schnittstelle.

Chromium 150 lost kExtensionManifestV2Disabled flag and will not be able to install MV2 extensions from Chrome Web Store. In Google Chrome, Blocking WebRequest permission is available only to MV2 extensions or policy-installed extensions. Users will still be able to load extensions in debug mode via “allow legacy MV2 extensions” flag. Other Chromium-based browsers will be able to relatively trivially continue support for MV2 and blocking WebRequest, at least for now.

Dies betrifft natürlich auch alle Derivate. Letztere können diese Funktion übergangsmäßig noch zur Verfügung stellen (sofern sie das auch wirklich tun), die Frage ist allerdings, für wie lange das gilt.

Tatsächlich steht MV3 seit 2021 zur Verfügung und für diese Schnittstelle gibt es auch uBlock Origin Lite, wie auch viele andere Erweiterungen. Wer sich für konkrete Unterschiede zwischen MV2 und MV3 interessiert, sei auf den Artikel Manifest V2 vs Manifest V3 (Chrome Extensions): What Changed, and Why 2025 Was the Turning Point verwiesen.

Ich persönlich empfehle ich die Verwendung von Mozilla Firefox, oder einem Firefox-Derivat.

Las notas de pestañas son un interesante añadido que están desarrollando en Firefox para tener mejor controladas las pestañas que mantenemos abiertas durante largo tiempo. Pulsando el botón derecho tendremos la posibilidad de dejar un «post-it» pegado a esa pestaña donde podemos poner lo que queramos: un recordatorio, algo que queremos hacer allí en el futuro, lo que sea.

De momento es una opción experimental que se debe activar en los Firefox Labs de la sección Ajustes y podría tener algún fallo o incompatibilidad actualmente, pero he comprobado que es completamente funcional.

Aprovecho la ocasión para decir que en esa misma sección también podemos activar un temporizador y una lista de tareas que quedan acoplados en la página de Nueva pestaña.

Well, credit where credit's due: Firefox implemented the AI blocking that many of us were clamoring for. Go into the settings, search for "AI", and scroll all the way to the bottom. The screenshot depicts what my settings were immediately after updating, where I'd previously used about:config to shut off some things using flags.

P.S. Zen Browser is a nice derivative of Firefox that implements much of what I liked about Vivaldi. If you want a more minimalist UI and/or tab tiling, it's worth checking out.
