Located in the Pike Place Market since 1911, MarketSpice lends a lovely smell to the air outside its shop, which is great for everyone in the Market, as MarketSpice’s next-door neighbor is the Pike Place Fish Market. MarketSpice has just about every spice you can think of displayed in glass jars and available by the gram. That being said, MarketSpice is mostly known for its signature tea blend, a strong black tea flavored with cinnamon and orange, which was created by an employee in the shop’s early days. As the story goes, Rose didn’t like tea but combined black tea with cinnamon and orange to make a blend she could stand to drink, and it caught on. Walking through the shop is a delight for the nose, and MarketSpice’s selection of spices and tea-related products is extensive. So, when you take that short 10-minute stroll from the Seattle Convention Center into Pike Place Market and notice that the air outside the Fish Market smells more aromatic than aquatic, you’ll know why!

  6. "For Tahlequah" teableau for 01/05/24

There was jubilation in my neighborhood when we saw she had a new baby, and devastation when it died. We feel her grief like a physical pain. Southern Resident orcas are critically endangered, currently numbering only 73.

  11. "Lots More Pine Needles To Pick Up" teableau for 09/12/24

(That was the refrain of my childhood, and my brother's).

If you zoom in, you'll see a tiny jumping spider inside the cup. Serendipity. Dad loved spiders.
It would have been your day, Daddy.
