Have been shooting with the S5 and now S5Ii for maybe 4 years now and only just learned that you can use the rear screen menu to tap directly into whatever recording modes you have added to your favie list.
Mate that is good. That is something I will use.

Every so often this planet of ours is simply ridiculous. Yes the human eye sees the Northern Lights a little less intensely than our cameras, but this is a real thing that actually happened and what a time to be alive.

Just came across another favie image on my hard drive, a twilight aurora from March the 1st.
We had just setup the cameras and were about to get settled in for dinner, when I noticed a little activity on the horizon. I love the way a little twilight (or moonlight) changes the colour palette when capturing the Northern Lights.

Slowly working my way through a few terabytes of timelapses shot in Feb and March.
Just after dinner we saw auroras poking through gaps in the cloud. I setup my first camera outside the rental cabin, pointed across the fjord to capture the clouds rolling by.
For the next hour I was helping my FIL shoot the more active auroras in the east. And didn't realise that my cloud timelapse was turning into an aurora timelapse :) Huge win.

This timelapse is from March 3rd, or technically March 4 because it was probably about 1am when it happened.
Was a big night in Tromso, and Senja, and most of the Arctic. Clear skies everywhere, and a KP5 aurora event. That's when the red shows up, far in the south. The camera sees it much more clearly than the human eye.

Was nice down at the beach too. Haven't had a tonne of sunshine the last month, so days like today are a treasure. Spent most of it outside and didn't get any of my work done :)

Took a little walk today. Some nice afternoon light in Senja, plus a minimum of shrubs. Just enough snow to make things pretty.
Hoping for clear skies tonight. Can still see some stars out there, but not much aurora activity. Not yet anyway!

Got a few breaks in the cloud last night, and a few dances from the nordlys as well. Not looking as lucky this evening though. She's a fickle lady Miss Aurora.

One hour of Tromsø nordlys from this evening, reduced to 23 seconds.
One of the reasons I love Tromsø is because even a little "level 2" aurora event is worth staying up late for :)
That and very cool cabins on the edge of a fjord with views of the night sky. Love it up here.
