Da ich vorgestern Zeit hatte und ich mir nicht die Laune vom blöden Wetter, Nebel und immer wieder leichter Nieselregen, verderben lassen wollte, bin ich einfach auf's Rad, zu einem Jagdschlösschen in der Gegend gefahren und habe in paar Fotos gemacht.
Direkt beim Schloss gibt es richtig alte Eichen. Zwei davon sind mindestens 800 Jahre alt. Im umgestürzten Stamm der dritten Eiche befindet sich jetzt die Kinderstube der Hirschkäfer. 😉

Here's a special treat for everyone today. Did you even know that this little bird existed? It's a Rufous-vented Tit and they love the higher elevations in Bhutan. They rumble through the lower shrubs in packs, munching on seeds and looking for anything more juicy that might be hiding amongst the foliage.
These guys happened to flitter close enough to me to get that 500mm into action. Had just finished dodging some yaks when they came along. I enjoy these unplanned encounters with nature so much. Such moments are a gift.

Today we got out for a little birding with our driver. He's super into birds now and loves sharing the local species. Saw a bunch of stuff, but in terms of photos, this proud little Hodgson's Redstart stole the day. Just a charmer, and came close enough for the 500mm to get some action.

Diese Woche das Thema #Langzeit bei der #52WochenFotoChallenge. Passend dazu gab es eine lange Dienstreise. Statt unterwegs anzuhalten und die #Leuchstreifen der anderen Fahrzeuge abzulichten habe ich dann kurzerhand die Kamera vorbei im #Auto montiert und die #Bewegung einfangen lassen.
Am Ende kann ich mich nicht mal für ein Foto entscheiden. 🙈

What an amazing day! It was coolish and very damp this morning in Trongsa. I spotted one of these fellas just posing, next to the female. Then saw another. And as the morning progressed I realised they were everywhere :)
I was too slow to capture the female. They flitter off quickly. But the boys just hang about and show off their colours.

One of those teeny tiny little butterflies that might be a sapphire or might not and my only reference for Bhutanese blues doesn't actually show the upper wings for most of the species.
I do love how every flash of blue fluttering by could be something totally new to my eyes.

Just a little update to the Emerald Tiger Moth (Callindra principalis) seen zipping about Bhutan at 2900m.
I first saw one two days ago, and posted those pics above. But then yesterday while visiting Gangtey Gonpa another one landed right in front of me while walking the grounds of the gonpa!
