Demonstrations were traditionally dominated by labor unions and middle-aged to older individuals, but citizens in their twenties to forties have increasingly become the driving force recently. Waving glow sticks is also a new style.

Background: xenophobic claims were made by conservative parties and a emerging cult party intensively in the previous national election for the House of Representatives. Also, the prime minister has shown authoritarian tendencies with military expansion and hostility towards other countries, and she forced the dissolution of the Diet to avoid being investigated for her corruption in the Diet debate, which may be the larger problems this time. :btr_bocchi_pain:
