Black Eden: The Idlewild Community is a good starting point for information on Idlewild, it's history in northern Michigan (though as someone who lives further north, I consider it mid-Michigan), and it's future. I bought this at the Idlewild Historic and Cultural Center when we went down last summer to visit. This book is over 20 years old now so some stuff has changed over time, but it does still provide a good bit of information.

Beach at Idlewild. It was hot today so there were some kids out there swimming. It was a very cute beach area. I want to take a picnic and spend the day there sometime!

Art installation at the Flamingo Club in Idlewild. The Flamingo is not operational, but is still standing. I am not sure if the community still uses the building for anything, but there is art work on the front of it with an explanation of each piece and the artist's name and this installation. It is well maintained.

My husband and I are in Idlewild for the weekend. We made it to the museum half an hour before they closed. Loved looking around at the pictures and history of the area. We will be headed to the music festival tomorrow morning, but just relaxing tonight.
