I knew I was going to get this, but it was just a matter of whether or not the shitty RSD powers that be decided to send my local shop any.This is my favorite Dinosaur Jr. era.
The post-Lou #90s records are incredible, but this live set is heavily focused on Green Mind, and it was included in the 2019 European 2xCD version.This vinyl version is slightly abridged, missing a couple songs that the CD had, which I don’t mind much, because this shit sounds SAVAGE.
I am a Dinosaur Jr. nut job, and a bit of a completist when it comes to them, so I’m happy to have this.

Purple vinylThe final album Dinosaur Jr. made for Warner Bros., one that was unjustly ignored by the label.
Even diehard Dino devotees were unaware it had even come out, & I was certainly one of them. The label heard no single, decided their relationship had run its course, & did NOTHING to promote the record.
A criminal act.Hand It Over is an INCREDIBLE record, and even though the band “broke up” for a decade shortly after its release, before the original lineup would triumphantly reunite, the record speaks for itself.
Hand It Over’s crown jewel is the song “Alone”; a slow-burning soulful dirge, with some of the nastiest and gnarliest lead guitar work J’s ever done.
It’s an astonishing song.This edition also comes expanded; including the “Take A Run At The Sun” E.P., a B-side, and live tracks.
ESSENTIAL.

2025 U.S. Remastered reissueSO FRIGGIN HAPPY that they’ve reissued both of the J + The Fog records.
The remaster on this is INCREDIBLE.
J is one of my all-time (hometown) heroes. If you don’t have J. Mascis on your list of most epic guitar gods ever, then I’m afraid I can’t take your list too seriously.
I also picked up Free So Free as well, and they are both more than welcome editions to my vinyl library.
For me, there’s not a weak moment on More Light. Songs like “Waistin” have a sun-soaked #60s California sound to them.
And of course, like ANY album J is on, MONSTER guitar playing.
Because… J Mascis.I’ll post Free So Free next, but both of these are my two favorite purchases/additions from this year so far.
“Where’d Ya Go” full volume all in your faces.

This is classic loud-quiet-loud nineties track, and I love the way this live rendition combines loud with fast, even more so than the album version. Taking the listener on a journey through the highs and lows of J Mascis' grieving process after the death of his father.

Ultimately the baby of the only continuous member, J Mascis, Dinosaur Jr was, most active from the early 1980s to the late 90s. Which meant they got pigeonholed as 'grunge', like most indie guitar bands of the time. But they're more like Pavement than they are like Nirvana or Pearl Jam.

2024 U.S. Deluxe Edition reissueA wonderful 15th Anniversary reissue of my favorite of the Dinosaur Jr. 2.0 reunion albums; complete with slipcase, plus 4 extra unreleased tracks.
One of those bonus tracks, Houses, was originally written and recorded by Elyse Weinberg, a female Canadian singer/songwriter. This reissue might be worth owning just for their cover of that.
The original recording from 1969 features Neil Young on guitar, and didn’t see the light of day until 2015.
That aside, everything you love about Dinosaur Jr. is on Farm.
J’s nasty guitar shredding, wonderful fuzzed-out melodic alt rock that never fails to deliver.They’ve never made a bad record, with or without Lou Barlow.

Kassel ist hügelig bis bergig. Insofern gleicht die Stadt dem Sauerland. Viele Dinge schätze ich sehr: die Anonymität der Cafès, die öffentlichen Bibliotheken, den Scheibenbeißer, die Parks, sowie die Museen und Kinos.
Am liebsten bewege ich mich mit Tram und Fahrrad fort, beobachte die Menschen und genieße das Stadtbild, vor allem Graffiti und Wandmalereien.
