I've had all my CDs in a plastic bin in storage for years (because apartment living), so sometimes I rediscover bands on streaming that I used to listen to a lot but hadn't thought about in a long time. This week, I'm falling in love with Blonde Redhead all over again. Remember this album?

It is a weird habit of mine that whenever I have to ride the bus I often decide to throw on a dream pop album or EP, I guess to keep myself calm. Today my choice while running important errands was listening to the entirety of I Can Hear the Heart Beating As One by Yo La Tengo.

The prompt is #OrangePath of Allyson, “The Orange EP” (1999)
I don’t know anything about this band. I don’t even know how this CD EP got into my collection. Was it that time that guy I worked with was dumping his Alternative Press samplers, and this got mixed in? Or maybe the bargain bin at that now-defunct used record store in Cambridge and I said, wtf?
From its look and the band name I got kind of a goth/new-age vibe that never drew me in; I'd come across, wonder about it, toss it aside. It took this exercise to get me to (re?)discover it, and I’m glad I did - there’s some good crunchy #IndieRock here.
Just to be contrary (and because it rocks) I’m sending you to the track “Kool Kool Blue” on this Orange fortnight, but check out the whole EP. (And how many of you will the hidden track catch napping?)

Look, I understand why a lot of people can't get into Half Japanese but they are really missing out. Their classic era in the late 80s and early 90s produced a lot of interesting and sometimes downright catchy music once you learn to love and accept Jad as a frontman.
