Il est de plus en plus difficile de trouver du matériel qui fonctionne avec des logiciels 100% libres. Pour y remédier, la promotion et le développement de microprogrammes de démarrage entièrement libres sont de plus en plus cruciaux. Les microprogrammes sont des logiciels qui se situent entre le matériel et le système d’exploitation. Ils jouent un rôle crucial dans le fonctionnement de nos ordinateurs. Cependant, la plupart du temps, ils sont propriétaires (non libres). Cela limite la liberté des utilisateurs qui sont obligés de faire confiance à des boîtes noires. La possibilité d’utiliser des firmwares 100 % libres peut non seulement garantir la sécurité, mais aussi permettre la transparence et le contrôle par la communauté.https://www.gnu.org/software/gnuboot/web
Au cours de cette présentation, nous verrons ce qu’est un microprogramme d’amorçage, pourquoi il est essentiel qu’il s’agisse d’un logiciel libre et comment il fonctionne en pratique. Nous présenterons ensuite GNU Boot, une distribution de microprogrammes d’amorçage 100% libre qui a atteint ces objectifs. La présentation sera tenue par Adrien Bourmault, l’un des mainteneurs de GNU Boot, qui se penchera sur les origines du projet, ses objectifs et son état actuel.

Από υπολογιστές με #trisquel #GNU/Linux & #GNUBoot, συνέχισα με selfhosting των υπηρεσιών (e-mail, συγχρονισμό αρχείων, chat) με @freedomboxfndn έως την αλλαγή ρουτερ του παρόχου με #librecmc και του σταθερού τηλεφώνου με #asterisk
Ήταν ένα πείραμα για το κατά πόσο μπορούμε να ζήσουμε χωρίς την big tech - μια ατομική και συλλογική μάχη που δεν είναι χαμένη!

Σήμερα έκανα αναβάθμιση του μαχητικού λάπτοπ μου - του «Λάκη»[1] (Lenovo Thinkpad x200) - σε #gnuboot (v. 0.1 rc6) και με την ευκαιρία του αντικατέστησα την θερμική πάστα σε cpu και gpu.
17 χρονών υπολογιστής, πλέον, και έως ότου βρεθεί άλλος υπολογιστής με ελεύθερο firmware[2], κρατάει ακόμα με αξιοπρέπεια!!!

Some people are just going too far with the hostile #fork culture, when there are more productive ways to collaborate on #libre software. What we've got here is failure to communicate with a fellow #FOSS developer. 😶
#GNU Boot people sending cease & desist to the maintainer of #Libreboot is so antithetical to their cause and only digging grave deeper for #FSF. #FreeSoftware and #trademark policies do suuuuuuch a good match, do they not?
But I also recognize that, maybe, @libreleah shouldn't have attempted to get #GNUBoot up to speed, at all? It's not like we're dealing with the brightest of the forks anyway. Just saying there are two sides to this story that I don't get completely. 🤔
