Три плагина для Mattermost за день: как мы закрыли боли мессенджера с помощью Cursor

Очередная история про AI и разработку, но с конкретикой. Mattermost на Team Edition, три ежедневные боли: нельзя нормально ответить на сообщение в канале, не видно прочитал ли коллега, для созвона кидаешь ссылку на локальный Jitsi с отдельной авторизацией. За день собрал три плагина в Cursor: reply с цитатой, галочки доставлено/прочитано, голосовые комнаты на Pion прямо в server-плагине. Личная инициатива, не тикет в бэклог. Коллегам понравилось, мне в копилку. Рассказываю, почему не переезжали на другой мессенджер, как задавал рамки AI (опыт с медиа помог), и где плагины не работают: спойлер, нативные приложения. P.S. про обложку. Превью для Habr тоже сгенерировал AI. Оно, конечно, вообще не похоже на настоящий Mattermost: другие цвета, другой UI, будто мессенджер из параллельной вселенной. Но мне так понравилось, что решил оставить. Пусть будет из разряда «ожидание vs реальность» или «Mattermost, который мы заслуживаем».

You can disable Agents by navigating to Plugins>Agents in System Console and selecting False for “enable plugin”.

The Agents option disappears from users' sidebar immediately.

J'ai longtemps hésité à faire la migration, car Mattermost commençait à mal tourner, mais je me suis dit qu'on irait quand même en passant par un des CHATONS (https://www.chatons.org/).

À l'usage, la version Team Edition de Mattermost ne répond pas à nos usages professionnels et j'en suis à envisager un retour sur Teams, tellement je trouve ça frustrant…

Since evaluating possible #Mattermost replacements and settling (more or less) on @nextcloud Talk, I realised there basically isn't any #webhook support in the way you usually think of it (create a hook, copy the secret URL, push messages to it). So I made this:

#Mattermost letting slash commands work in the browser but not on mobile is ridiculous. The #Hermes gateway/integration works, but the mobile app grabs anything starting with / before Hermes ever sees it. So the exact same command works on web, then dies on mobile. Same bot, same chat, different rules.

And the suggested workaround somehow makes it worse: add a leading space so it sends as plain text, except now you risk breaking the command for the integration on the other end. It’s a full custody battle over a single character. If Mattermost is going to hijack /, it should either support custom integrations properly everywhere or get out of the way.

Seit einer Weile ist Mattermost meine zentrale Schaltstelle für KI-Agenten, Automatisierungen und schnelle Notizen – und ich bin immer noch überrascht, wie wenig bekannt diese Open-Source-Alternative zu Slack ist.

Was ist Mattermost?

Ein Team-Chat wie Slack, aber selbst hostbar und Open Source. Ich betreibe es auf meinem eigenen VPS (Server) und kann es überall im Browser nutzen – ohne App-Installation. Es gibt aber auch Apps für PC & Smartphone in allen Betriebssystemen. Auch am Arbeitsrechner, wo ich nichts installieren darf, habe ich vollen Zugriff. Telegram der Klassiker zur Agentsteuerung  wollte ich aus verschiedenen Gründen nicht nutzen. Slack kommt nicht in Frage, weil es proprietär ist und nicht selbst gehostet werden kann.

Wofür ich es nutze

Das Herzstück ist das UI für meinen Hermes Agent und OpenClaw – KI-gestützte persönliche Assistenten, die Aufgaben übernehmen, Workflows ausführen und sich an meine Präferenzen anpassen. Ich kommuniziere mit ihnen direkt über Mattermost egal von welchem Rechner aus.

Daneben habe ich mir über die Zeit weitere Kanäle eingerichtet:

Quick Notes – Schnelle Links, Notizen oder Textstücke, die ich geräteübergreifend brauche. Kein extra Tool, kein extra Tab.

Mastodon – Ich kann direkt aus Mattermost auf Mastodon posten und bekomme Erwähnungen in einen eigenen Kanal zurück. Hat sich zu einem kleinen Mastodon-Client entwickelt.

n8n-Fehler & Workflows – n8n ist eine selbst hostbare Workflow-Automatisierungs-App, mit der man Abläufe visuell und ohne Code aufbauen kann. Fehlermeldungen meiner n8n-Workflows landen in Mattermost statt in meiner E-Mail – das befreit meinen Posteingang.

Speech-to-Text – Sprachnotizen werden über einen n8n-Workflow transkribiert und landen automatisch in Mattermost, sofort abrufbar auch am Arbeitsrechner.

Was mich wirklich gefällt

Mattermost ist für mich längst keine Chat-App mehr. Es ist die eine Oberfläche, über die ich Input und Output meiner gesamten Infrastruktur steuere – KI-Agenten, Automatisierungen, schnelle Notizen. Alles an einem Ort, übersichtlich und beliebig erweiterbar. Selbst gehostet, ohne monatliche Abo-Kosten.

So @zulip is nice, but I'm not sure it does any more than @nextcloud Talk, which we already have working on our main servers. So if @RocketChat have made their standalone installation such a pain and #Mattermost have pulled enterprise login features, Nextcloud Talk might make most sense for us in the end as our Mattermost replacement.

#Mattermost Desktop App for Mac says version 6.2.2 is available to install - go to App Store - only 6.2.1 is available. I'm sure it's awaiting clearance or something, but surely the App can hold off on the notification until it is actually available?

The website for #mattermost is frightening. It looks like they're trying to market to some pretty awful people ("trusted by governments, enterprises and militaries").

I've been using it for a while now but definitely don't want to hang about in that space any more. The ever shifting sands...Any alternatives?
