  1. Paddling under #SelkirkTrestle bridge, on the #GorgeWaterway.

The Selkirk Trestle is a #historic wooden railway bridge in Victoria, British Columbia. Spanning 302 meters (approximately 991 feet) over the Gorge Waterway, it connects the neighborhoods of Burnside-Gorge & Victoria West. Built in 1917 for the Canadian Northern Railway (later part of Canadian National Railway), it originally carried freight, including forest products, to industrial areas in Victoria. The bridge features a rare Scherzer rolling lift (bascule) span, approximately 37 meters long. It was traditionally hand-operated to allow tall vessels to pass through the Selkirk Arm of the Gorge Waterway.

Today, it is part of the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, which runs for 55 km from Victoria to Sooke on the west coast of Vancouver Island.

  6. I was out on the #GallopingGoose today and saw a rather interesting contraption: A side by side tandem #recumbent trike. I also came across someone using a Burley Travoy (as a handcart not a trailer) I think that's the first time I've seen someone else with one (I wasn't towing mine at the time)
