At #WellandCommunityOrchard they have a wall of #BeeCondos for #NativeBees / #pollinators 🐝💗🐝
These tiny homes are used by #BlueOrchardMasonBees & #LeafcutterBees & #SandWasps & some other native bees.Honeybees provide us with honey & beeswax but they aren't native here.
#VancouverIsland is home to at least 30 different native bee species. Almost all of these native bees are solitary.

#NativePlant in #PacificNorthwest regions. We've used this plant at several habitat/ecological restoration areas - across Southern #VancouverIsland. It is an excellent plant for riparian revegetation & pollinators love their bright pink, tiny flowers too.
#PNW #Indigenous peoples use the plant for making brooms & for hanging seafood to cook.
It grows in almost any soil conditions, even very dry & gravelly soil but prefers boggy/wet areas.
