Today I learned about Unicode string normalization 🤯
So, apparently, when you type 'é' on a keyboard with dead keys, you do not get the Unicode character for 'é', but instead get an e followed by an '. For it to become an actual 'é' you then have to normalize the string to the correct normalization form (I'm not making this up), being Normalization Form C or NFC.
Anyways, think about me when you get your #foss4gbe badge this year, Sébastien 😅

I'm Roel 🏳️🌈 , I live in Belgium and work in geoinformatics. I use #foss GIS, including #PostGIS, #Geoserver and #QGis. I'm a member of #osgeo Belgium and team #foss4gbe. I'm interested in #OpenData and #OSM, fiddle around in #Python and occasionally make a map.
I also love #gardening in our allotment, #hiking and #cycling. I speak 🇳🇱 and 🇬🇧 and object to using flags as language indicators.
