  3. Community involvement continues to play a key role in sustaining #opensource #geospatial projects 🔓

Recently, #GeoServer 3.0-RC was released 🌐, as the result of a successful #community #crowdfunding campaign 💡. The initiative supported modernization, security improvements, and long-term maintainability 🛠️

This reflects a broader pattern in the geospatial open source ecosystem, where collective funding supports core infrastructure 🤝

  4. I'm trying to identify installed extensions before updating #GeoServer, so that I can ensure I update the extensions, too. I can see a list of installed modules under Server Status. However, I think I see evidence that ImagePyramid is also installed, but it does not appear in the list (docs.geoserver.org/stable/en/u says ImagePyramid is not installed by default). Is there a more reliable way of determining installed extensions? Or am I misunderstanding something?

  5. 🚀 The release date for GeoServer 3 is officially set: 15 April 2026.

This major update modernizes the platform with Spring 7 and JDK 17, improving security and vulnerability management. It also simplifies cloud native deployments and brings better raster performance with ImageN.

Made possible by community crowdfunding and many sponsors.
