  1. Hej, är det någon kunnig programmerare som kan tala om för mig hur lätt/svårt det är att ställa om till permanent normaltid och hur lång tid det skulle kunna ta?

  7. Good morning Fedi friends, happy chocolate egg day to all who indulge. It was a lovely night last night at a mild 12c & it’s going to be another beautiful 25c day here. The clock change didn’t seem to have much of an affect on me as I still woke up at 6am although I admit that the last half hour was mostly just dozing.
Only thing on the agenda today is going out to my son & DILs house in Barnawartha for bbq lunch. I’m being picked up by my daughter & family in a couple of hours. I have all the grandkids easter things ready in a bag to take with me. I made some chocolate spiders for them as well, although they may be more suitable for the adults as I used dark chocolate. I haven’t made them since my own kids were little & they loved them then. I’d forgotten how simple they were to make!
Hope you all have an awesome #Sunday doing what makes you happy 🌻. #Weather #DaylightSaving #Easter #Chocolate

  8. Daylight saving and circadian rhythms and killing wildlife on the roads
Crashing into the 'zone of wildlife'

“[With] daylight saving, we start shifting our cars and our daily routine more into the zone of animals, their sunset, sunrise period … suddenly there are cars when all the dusk choruses are happening."

"Species that would be of obvious concern would be kangaroos and wallabies, that are often quite active both in the morning and in the afternoon around dusk, so any increased traffic around the time when they’re most active can create potential issues with road accidents,” Deakin University wildlife ecology and conservation professor Euan Ritchie says."

"Cars – with their lights and noise, and the danger they pose – can affect insects, birds and wildlife." >>

  13. I will simply be sleeping in an extra hour every day for the next six months. 😴 #DaylightSaving #DST

  14. It’s another glorious sunny start to the day & I was up in the dark so watched the dawn arrive. 9c again this morning & will be a lovely sunny 23c. Everything is still very wet & as the garden is tidy it all actually looks quite good & nice & fresh. Still a few things I want to do, but not urgent things. I would love to know when the quote for my flooding problems will be dealt with, I might make some phone calls next week.
I can’t wait for the end of daylight saving. It’s so dark when I wake up now, but I also notice I’m sleeping a little longer because of it, not better, just longer. I am heading to bed a little later as well though.
Gentle stretchy yoga 🧘🏼‍♀️ class will be happening this morning, then down to my sisters for my weekly visit. I’m going to top up with petrol too as it’s pretty expensive right now & may go even higher. So just hedging bets although I do have half a tank right now.
    Have a great #Sunday everyone, stay safe out there 🌻. #Weather #DaylightSaving #Exercise #Garden #Family.

  15. "If you find it hard to remember which way the clocks will change, then the phrase "spring forward, fall back" is a useful reminder."

No, it isn't, because "clocks go forward" is also really hard for me to work out which way the change happens.

Just tell me if tomorrow is an hour shorter or an hour longer than normal.

Or, better, ditch the whole sorry mess entirely, and if the farmers want to get up earlier in the summer to catch the extra light, they can.

  16. Good golly it was dark for a long time this morning. Did sunrise get pushed back about half an hour within a few days or something?

"Three day weekends are excellent and I think we should have more of them. I am far from alone.

A trial across multiple countries found a four-day work week reduces burnout. The World Economic Forum found four-day work weeks to be good in 2022. There’s also groups that run training courses on how to move your company to a four-day work week and they have a bunch of research also.

Since we’re all about data-driven decision making these days, I guess we’re all moving to adopt four-day work weeks as fast as we can, right? Given all the benefits and the research showing it’s a good thing to do? No?

Apparently it takes around 20 years for research to fight its way out of the dry prose of academic journals and into the wider populace.

A four-day work weeks seems weird only because we’re used to five, but there’s nothing natural about a two-day weekend. It’s remarkable how quickly people adjust to sudden changes in timekeeping, after all. Weeks aren’t real in the way that days are, and yet we make weird and arbitrary changes to how long a day is all the time and call it #daylightsaving.

Maybe we could start calling #fourdayweeks#weekend saving” and start doing it for six months at a time to get people used to the idea. Once the people closer to the equator figure out what to do with their curtains and cows for half a year, we could suggest that this changing of the week twice a year is silly and we should just move to a permanent four day work week.

Then we can move on to the next goal: the three day work week.

    Who’s with me?"

  29. Remember many years ago an experiment whereby the clocks were not put back in the autumn and were left on British Summertime (BST).
It resulted in the evenings being lighter and the mornings darker.
A couple of the disadvantages that often featured in the news reports at the time were children having to travel to school in the dark and that for people in Scotland, it didn't get light until mid-morning.
Apart from that, I can't recall whether any other conclusions were reached when the experiment ended and we reverted to ending daylight-saving the following autumn.
As a footnote, imagine living in the town of Longyearbyen in the arctic archipelago of Svalbard.
A few weeks ago, this 'land of the midnight sun' was experiencing 24-hour daylight.
Today however, the sun will rise just after 11.30am, then set again just ten minutes later.
After that brief appearance, the sun will stay below the horizon until mid February next year!

  34. My cat’s automatic feeder, which is connected to Wi-Fi, is set to dispense food at 1 a.m. But I just realized that when we fall back on Nov. 2 in the US, we’ll fall back to 1 a.m. again.

I went ahead and set her feeding time to 12:59 a.m. now so I don’t have to think about it later and can avoid accidentally giving her two portions of food for her midnight snack (though—let’s be real—I’m sure she’d love the extra portion 😉).
