  5. [T]he first data from #Jewish respondents is “particularly alarming,” and suggested the numbers could be higher as many Jewish #civilservants are afraid to publicly identify as Jewish at the workplace.

“The data that we are seeing today points to really high levels of #discrimination amongst those Jewish employees that feel comfortable in self-identifying. A lot of folks still hide their identity because they’re afraid,” Wilczynski explained.

Since the #Oct7, 2023 #Hamas attacks, #antisemitism in #Canada has reached levels without precedent in the available data. #StatisticsCanada’s police-reported #hatecrime figures, released in July, show that #hatecrimes targeting #Jews jumped 82 percent in 2023, to 959 from 527 the year before. The count has since eased slightly—943 in 2024 and 788 in 2025—but Jews, who make up roughly 1 percent of the population, were the target of 70.7 percent of all religion-motivated hate crimes and 16.7 percent of the 4,708 hate crimes..."

  15. "Over the centuries, #American #Jews have built a vast religious landscape in which no single institution or orthodoxy can reign supreme or dictate how #Judaism should be practised. Such free market Judaism has produced a panoply of diverse religious #Jewish life, but it has also made collective representation more difficult.

Who ends up speaking on behalf of American Jews when #antisemitism spikes? Who testifies on Capitol Hill before Congress? Who can synthesise the concerns of #Orthodox, #Reform, #Conservative and unaffiliated Jews without pretending their differences don’t exist?

Whether #America ever gets a chief #rabbi again or a universally-accepted council of chief #rabbis may be beside the point. What isn't beside the point is that at a time of disturbing levels of antisemitism and a Jewish community fractured by politics, some kind of unity, however America chooses to build it, has never felt more necessary."

  21. Ross is wrong.

The right can act with impunity when the left doesn't fight them on it. If the right is able to bring violence its because the gentile left is either too small, weak, and irrelevant to do anything about it or they've decided the victim is undeserving of their support.

    Left/Right same system for Jews.

"When #Jewish leaders speak out these days, it’s often to blast the anti-#Israel actions of one #DemocraticSocialistsofAmerica #politician or another. Given all the attention — and the millions of dollars raised within the Jewish community to help defeat these #candidates — you’d think the greatest existential threat to #American #Jews was coming from the left.

But a new #book by #historian #StevenRoss is here to tell you: You’d be mistaken.

“What you’ve seen seeping in on the far left is more anti-Israel and some #antisemitism,” #Ross told me in a phone interview. “But here’s the thing: the left has never called for death to people, the right has.”

  23. Jews were legally considered a separate race in the US through WW2. The 1987 S.C. decision in Shaare Tefila Congregation v. Cobb is based on it.

All of my people's migration documents list their race as Hebrew. This isn't moving forward. I'm not saying it's good or bad. It's just not new.

"The state of #California is poised to become the first in the nation to recognize being #Jewish as an #ethnic and #racial, not just a #religious, identity.

On Aug. 13, a key committee of its state #Senate passed a bill that would add “Jewish” to its long list of recognized identities. This is an important step forward in a longstanding debate about whether that label denotes just a religion or is an #ethnicity or #race. As The #NewYorkTimes observes, it is “a first step toward acknowledging and demystifying the multifaceted nature of Jewish identity.”

But it comes at a dangerous moment for #American #Jews, a moment of rising #antisemitism and anti-Jewish #hatecrimes."

  24. Snippet from Culture Cancer - tromsite.com/2026/07/culture-c…

Another example of stage 2-3 Culture Cancer is that of the occupation of West Bank by Israel. They have literally caged in a group of people, like you would do with livestock for consumption.

On top of that some people from the Israeli tribe are forcefully taking the land from the West Bank residents, beating, mocking them, even murdering them.

    An example:

One of the Israeli settlers “hoarding” a Palestinian woman, mocking her as if she is a cattle. And filming all at the same time. Did I mention that he is holding a riffle?

In the video you can see him making the same noises that the Palestinians make to hoard their animals. The Israeli leaders tolerate and even encourage this behavior.I recommend these two documentaries to see the insane cancerous situation between Israel and the West Bank:

    No Other Land - videoneat.com/documentaries/26…
Louis Theroux: The Settlers - videoneat.com/documentaries/26…

These are examples of a stage 2-3 Culture Cancer. It has spread significantly and it is hard to tackle. Thus it has a great influence over a population of people who can turn violent against each other.

  25. I truly wish we did control the fucking media. Wtf?

"The #BBC has rejected complaints over the use of an #antisemitic phrase on one of its programs, arguing that the reference did not explicitly mention #Jews and therefore did not constitute #antisemitism.

The controversy arose during an episode of the BBC’s Gardeners’ Question Time radio program, when one panelist referred to another as “moneybags Rothschild.”

The phrase is a reference to the #Rothschild family, the prominent #Jewish banking dynasty whose wealth and Jewish identity have made it a longstanding target of #antisemitic #conspiracy theories.

A viewer subsequently filed a complaint with the BBC’s Editorial Complaints Unit (#ECU), arguing that the reference was antisemitic and inappropriate.

However, the ECU rejected the complaint, reportedly reasoning that the comment did not specifically reference the Rothschild family’s Jewish identity and therefore did not “perpetuate #prejudice.” :100_yikes:

  26. America hates Jewish, Muslim, and black Americans. Fact.

"#FBI data released this week showed that #Jews were targeted in 1,528 hate crimes in the #US in 2025, far more than any other religious group.

The figure amounted to 63% of the 2,408 religion-based #hatecrimes in the US last year.

Overall hate crimes, and those targeting Jews, decreased last year compared to 2024, although Jews remain disproportionately targeted.

The next most-targeted religious group was #Muslims, who were the victims of 205 hate crime incidents, meaning Jews were attacked seven times more often.

Overall, #Blackpeople were targeted the most, with 2,811 hate crimes against them, the data showed. The US Black population is around six times larger than the Jewish population.

Jews were targeted in 14% of all hate crimes in the US last year, despite making up around two percent of the population."

"So the anti-#Israeli, anti-#Jewish demonstration at the #HeritageFestival last week was a performance aimed squarely at #Edmonton’s local Jewish and Israeli community.

That demonstration and the violent act of physically attacking our tent, the image of our cultural identity, sent a clear message to Edmonton’s 150-year-old Jewish community: “We don’t want #Jews and #Israelis in our city.” By allowing this to happen, you, the Edmonton Heritage Festival Association, have shown that your festival’s mission of “bringing the world together” is a farce.

I moved to Edmonton nine years ago from Israel to serve as #rabbi of one of this city’s #synagogues. My family and I have stayed because we love Edmonton’s diversity: the way it brings people from around the world together to build a kinder, more peaceful, prosperous society.

Do you see Jews and Israelis as part of this city?"

  28. "[I]ncidents documented in #London between July 16 and July 23 were essentially repackaged versions of the #antisemitic#ZOG#conspiracytheory — “#Zionist Occupied Government.” The theory claims that Western governments have been secretly infiltrated by “#Zionists,” a term that report authors say is used as a disguised substitute for the word “#Jews.”

The Campaign Against #Antisemitism noted that the term ZOG was coined in the 1970s by #American neo-#Nazi #activist #EricThompson, a fact that, according to the report’s authors, underscores that the rhetoric derives directly from #whitesupremacist ideology, even when it appears today in other political contexts.

“Antisemitic #conspiracytheories of this sort are nothing new, of course. But their now open popularity among #farleft #activists points to a troubling ideological convergence that should concern all who are committed to combating hatred, regardless of where it surfaces across the political spectrum..."

Of the 66 #hatecrimes that Seattle recorded in the first seven months of this year, 13 (19.7%) have targeted Jews.

Jews make up about 1% of those who live in the Seattle metro area, according to the Pew Research Center’s 2023-24 Religious Landscape Study.

From January to end of July, 7.2% of all of the 511 hate crimes, crimes with what Seattle calls “#biaselements” and non-crimes that involve #bias which the city has recorded targeted Jews, according to official city data.

Of the 259 crimes with “bias elements,” which the city uses to refer to crimes in which the bias is a secondary motivation, in Seattle so far this year, 11 (4.2%) targeted Jews, and 13 (7%) of the 186 bias incidents have targeted Jews, Seattle data suggests."

A unique #theatrical #performance inspired by #Yiddish #folktales features dead #Jews dancing at a cemetery, a prophet appearing in the form of a bunny rabbit and a stone-munching worm named Shamir. It all takes place within the confines of a 2’ X 4’ box known as a #cranky and it’s coming to #NewYork later this month as part of the International #Puppet #FringeFestival.

"#Jews, who make up about 10% of #NewYorkers, were the targets of nearly 70% of all #hatecrimes in the #BigApple last month, according to newly released city data, and anti-#Jewish hate crimes, which the city said it confirmed, were up 53.3% compared to the same period last year.

The #NewYorkCity Police Department said that it recorded 33 “confirmed” hate crimes in the city last month, of which 23 targeted Jews (69.6%). In July 2025, there were 15 anti-Jewish hate crimes in the city, it said.

#Muslims were targets of five “confirmed” hate crimes last month in New York City, or 15% of all hate crimes, which was up from two such incidents last year in July.

After recording a 182% increase in anti-Jewish hate crimes in the Big Apple in January, in Zohran Mamdani’s first month as mayor, the city began publishing only “confirmed” hate crimes and not “reported” ones in February."

  35. "#Galut is thus often understood as the experienced reality of being in exile, albeit structured, however, by the internalization of the textual notion of the #Diaspora and tempered by the daily experience (good or bad) of life in the world. The #Jew experiences the daily life of exile through the mirror of the #biblical model of expulsion, whether it be the expulsion from the #GardenofEden or freedom from slavery in #Egypt. Galut has formed the #Jewish self-understanding of exile, at least for religious #Jews. Yet for some thinkers today the involuntary dispersion of the Jews (galut or #golah) is articulated as being inherently different from the voluntary exile of the Jews (diaspora or #tfutsot). These two models exist simultaneously in #Jewishhistory in the image of uprooted and powerless Jews on the one hand and rooted and empowered Jews on the other."

  36. #Israeli #Nazis continue their ethnic cleansing in Gaza. The world just watches. This mess of the Middle East was created by #Europeans. They didn't just murder #Jesus, a Palestinian #Jew. They have actually been supporting #European #Jews to continue to murder Palestinians and to destroy the peace in the #MiddleEast.

  37. More on that Blue Square poll/survey...

"More #Americans say questioning the #Holocaust is not #antisemitic and express agreement with anti-#Jewish stereotypes, according to a survey the #BlueSquareAlliance Against Hate released on Thursday.

The #poll of 7,053 #US adults, conducted from March 4 to April 3, found that 32% of respondents said they do not believe questioning the Holocaust is antisemitic, up from 26% in August 2025.

The #survey’s margin of sampling error is ±0.92 percentage points at the 95% confidence level.

Agreement with all 10 antisemitic #tropes tracked by the survey—including claims that #Jews control #Hollywood and the #media or are more loyal to #Israel than the #UnitedStates—also increased since summer 2025. The rise in agreement with individual statements ranged from 12% to 38%, according to the survey."

  38. Interesting Jewish experience on a city tour in Germany. These questions around memory are pretty important and thought-provoking.

"A year before, I’d gone on two more of these types of #Jewish memorial trips. In Poland, we’d visited #Auschwitz, #Treblinka, and the #WarsawGhetto. In #Prague, we saw the Old #Jewish Quarter, #Theresienstadt, and #Europe’s oldest #synagogue. Here, too, we naturally experienced these cities and tourist sights through the eyes of #Jews. Each monument was viewed and explained, each museum was visited or at least noticed, each chance for lamentation was taken.

But on this city tour through #Dortmund, I noticed something rather peculiar: no Jews. With one exception: me. Oh well, I thought, today, my generation is so trained to be tolerant that it would practically be an advantage to be the only #Jew in a large group."

  39. Not typically a fan of Rabbi Ruttenberg, but this is an interesting, provocative thought-piece.

"Nobody would think twice about demanding a #reasonableaccommodation if #corporations asked #Jews to start violating #Shabbat or partaking of the #pork BBQ at the #company retreat against their own practice. And while I would not demand that every #Jew request such an #accommodation (for Shabbat or keeping #kosher), they should absolutely have that option available, even if their #religious practice is a work in progress. So too, here.

And despite seeing many people (including religious Jews!) eliding the moral and religious issues around #AI because "that train has already left the station," we should make choices based on whether they are right or wrong. Also, it's a fallacy: Movements grow from dissent."

  40. My people came from Vilna. I have zero desire to go visit Europe. Its just one giant Jewish graveyard in my mind.

"A rare "antisemitic incident in #Lithuania: A local #blogger and #socialmedia activist was arrested after being filmed spitting at three #Israeli #rabbis visiting #Vilnius and urging others to do the same.

According to #Lithuanian authorities, the suspect, #GintarasLiutkevičius, posted a video on social media showing him approaching the three #Jews, who were wearing traditional religious clothing, spitting toward them and encouraging others to follow his example.

“I heard you love to spit on #Christians ... what if I spit on you?” he is heard saying in the video. “You need to go home. This is not your home. This is Lithuania — go home.”
