That does not mean I don’t care about #Jews. I am #shomerShabbat, attend a community #minyan daily, have three #Jewish grandsons (so far …), and a brother whom I helped bring to traditional Jewish practice who lives in #Jerusalem and learns in #kollel.
I care a lot about Jews.
What I am tired of is Jewish political and communal organizations making the fight against antisemitism such a focal point of #American Jewish life.
We have organizations fighting antisemitism, conferences about antisemitism, committees studying antisemitism, webinars teaching us about antisemitism and politicians condemning antisemitism. Then, after something actually happens, the police increase patrols in Jewish neighborhoods, statements are issued, everybody promises that hate has no home here, and we wait for the next incident.
And yet antisemitism seems to be doing just fine.
Maybe we are fighting the wrong battle."

Well... we've found one of the key areas where I'm completely insensitive to the valid needs of the Orthodox community.
Lets stop this time change nonsense once and for all! ⏰️

"The #US #SupremeCourt has agreed to hear the case of #DanielGrand, an #Orthodox #Jew from #Ohio who says local authorities barred him from holding #Jewish #prayer gatherings at his home and that neighbors harassed him over the practice.
The decision by the nation’s highest court to take up the case is considered highly unusual in the #American #legal system, as the Supreme Court hears only about 50 cases a year.
The dispute began in 2021. Grand, who lives in #UniversityHeights, wanted to pray with a #minyan, the quorum of 10 Jewish men required for certain communal prayers. Because Jewish law prohibits driving on #Shabbat and holidays, and the local #synagogue was too far away to reach on foot, he decided to host worshippers in his private home."

While I'm at it I'd like to mention that I belong to a small #minyan that meets Sun-Thu at 6PM Pacific on Zoom. During the summer we do both minḥa and ma'ariv; when the days are shorter we only do ma'ariv. Usually one of us gives a short d'var #torah. And, for what it's worth, I lead either minḥa or ma'ariv every Tuesday.
As you may have guessed from my previous post, we use the Conservative siddur and liturgy. The minyan is a project of the Jewish Collaborative of Orange County (CA), which my wife helped found and where she used to work.
The minyan is great for those saying #kaddish, for East Coasters for whom a late ma'ariv is more convenient, and for anybody who'd like to participate more in davening but doesn't really get the opportunity. We have people join us from all over the country, though on any given evening we'll have 10-15 participants.

New Minyan Times
By popular demand, we’re experimenting with some different time slots for our London-based Weekday Minyan. Our next minyan will be a maariv, on Tuesday 4 February.
If you’ve never been before, you’re very welcome, but please book so we know to look out for you.
Future February dates and times aren’t yet fixed, but we’ll have a new set pattern by March. Watch this space for news and announcements or send us an email to get added to our list.

Weekday Morning Minyans
Our weekly Shacharit services continue in to their second month! The LGBT Centre has added a page for booking, for people haven’t been before.
Our regular schedule is:
7:30: Doors, laying tefillin (please bring your own if you have them. We do not yet have any to lend out)
7:45: Service starts
8:15: Kaddish and then the end of the service
8:30: We must depart

I think that could be said of a lot here.
There is no #Jew without a #community because the #Covenant is with the entire community of #Israel. You can easily be a Jew without a minyan. You can't be a Jew without the concept of a #minyan.
Similarly, interacting with non-Jews is interacting with another community, even if they're the only ones you interact with.
I like the explanation that we were all born #Jews but some had to find their way back to the community.
