I'm worried I might be the only person in my company who actually reviews, AND CORRECTS the AI meeting notes before sending them.

I've found Copilot is good at making way too long meeting notes and creating action items out of thin air. I correct that crap, others don't.

This morning I have a follow up from someone inquiring about an action item I did not have anything to do with, but AI assigned to me. Guess they've been waiting a few weeks. Sorry, dude.

I lost my Grandmother on this day in 2015. She and Grandpa gave up their retirement (and everything) to raise me. They rocked it as best they could. Rather than have a proper goodbye I was on a plane to Texas to do "critical" and "important" work that no one else could do. My team at the time was appreciative of the sacrifice, even then I regretted it. I accomplished and sacrificed a lot that year.

A few months later some idiot consultant turned VP blew up my department and stuck me in a crappy role with folks who knew nothing about me, and my accomplishments. And they didn't care. I received 50% of my annual bonus because I was "new to the role," they didn't know how to judge my entire year of performance, didn't bother to ask, and didn't listen.

TL;DR: It's probably/maybe good to go above and beyond at work. But totally not worth it to miss the important moments.

I'll regret this for the rest of my life and will share this anecdote each anniversary with anyone who bothers to read it.

New week. While I can't say I love, or even like Mondays, I'm generally positive to the idea of a new week.

Not so much this week. After a few waves of bad news at work I'm deeply concerned about my career... Again. Almost three years to the day that I got it sorted last time 'round.

There's the AI concern but this is structural. Noticing a pattern and not digging it. Why mess with high performing teams?

While I was playing in Los Angeles it seems folks at work thought it would be a great idea to incite chaos and put people’s careers through the shredder.

I still have a job but am losing an amazing boss. Now feeling SUPER exposed and uneasy. Ugh! I really liked my job. Always when I’m happy they have to screw it up. We’re getting to work on the BS early this year. 🫠
