Solltest ein Kind bei einer Freundin übernachten, hast du immer noch zwei Kinder, von denen eines bis 10 Uhr pennt, und das andere dich um 5:30 weckt, weil es ausgeschlafen hat.

The kiddo approached me yesterday, interested in seeing a theatrical re-release of #PerfectBlue, and wondering if I’d be willing to take her.
My response was basically: “Are you kidding me?! #SatoshiKon movies rule! I’m in!”
Her: “Oh, cool, I didn’t know if you’d heard of it.”
Me: “I’m pretty sure I still have the VHS!”

Asking on behalf of my daughter who’s hoping to find a political/politics-adjacent placement for 12 months, in the UK for her third year, starting summer 2026.

Spannende Folge. Interessante Haltung zum Thema „bedürfnisorientierte Erziehung“. Auf jeden Fall kann ich den Punkt, dass Eltern heute ihre eigenen Grenzen ignorieren um den Kindern möglichst viel zu ermöglichen, absolut bestätigen. Die eigenen Grenzen zu ignorieren, und auf der anderen Seite Aufgaben nicht sinnvoll zu priorisieren, sind eine Freikarte für einen Klinikaufenthalt. #DadOps #Elterngedöns

In parenting and Costco news… Apparently it’s well known that Costco’s Kirkland (house brand) diapers have the best quality to value ratio. WELL, Huggies has decided to get out of the white label business to focus on being a premium brand. And it must be a winning strategy because the new Costco diapers SUCK and we’re moving to huggies.

Following up on this old toot. We ended up getting a G4 Instant and adding it to our Ubiquiti system. I’m powering it with a USB power bank and unplugging when not needed. It has two-way audio and I’m more inclined to trust Unifi than some rando baby monitor that is unlikely to get regular security updates.
Bonus: I like that the camera has other uses for when a monitor isn’t needed. Like spying on the dogs, or chickens.

Watched Kubo and the Two Strings with the boys. The end credits feature Regina Spektor's amazing cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. They couldn't name the song but both recognized the riff so I am claiming partial credit #DadOps
