Start saving!

We better start saving our money. Badger is booked for her next dentistry in December with pre-operative blood work in November. At least it's before the standard January price rise!

I'm not sure whether to be dismayed or happy that Badger is going for dentistry again. It's a bit of a nightmare as I recall from her last, in March as she doesn't get on with the pain medication and there were spats with the others when she came home. And this time she's having all the rest of her teeth removed as she suffers from resorption. But there will be a price hike in January so I was really hoping it would be this year...

Poor Bidgie. Poor us. GofundBidgie account linked... Just kidding...

Rupert

Nostalgia seems to be my theme at the moment. Back to happier days, I guess.

He was the loveliest cat, in looks and in personality and character. When he was 8 months old I took him to a cat show and he charmed everyone so much that we heard people passing by asking if they knew where that orange Rex cat was going next, so they could see what he was getting up to. He patted a passing judge on the backside from within his pen, and played with the tail of the cat in the next pen, much to that cat's annoyance. He won every prize going, got his championship in his first show and I never took him again. I didn't want to demoralize the other cats!

Anyway, we still miss him. Sigh.

Have a lovely Caturday, if you can, all who celebrate.

Our two original Cornish Rex cats, Rupert and Molly. Like all cats, they migrate around the house depending on where the sun is shining. In the morning it shines through onto the stairs. I was struck on that particular morning by the wavy shadows of the stair balusters next to the curly cats. Rupert was a golden colour, Molly was black.

Poor Badger doesn't care for dentistry!

She had a lot of teeth removed about 10 days ago (she suffers from resorption), so that's pretty traumatic in itself. To make matters worse the pain medication made her nauseous so she wouldn't eat and when I stopped giving her that medication she was in too much pain to eat the soft canned food. The others offered to help clean her plate but were foiled in the attempt and went off in a sulk. So everyone was pretty miserable, including Steven and me.

She's doing much better now that she's on pain and anti nausea meds she can tolerate. She's eating again and obviously feeling more like herself.

She'll have to go back to have the others removed in 6 months or a year. They didn't want to keep her under the anaesthetic any longer as her blood pressure became difficult to stabilize.

I don't do well when any in my little family are sick.

Here's Badger when she was just back from her surgery.

Who loves her daddy then?
(One minute video)

Zaz certainly knows how to show her favourite human that she can't wait for him to come in. He had been out for all of 20 minutes.

I can't upload the 1 minute video here, unfortunately. It sank without trace, almost, yesterday. So the link to watch the clip is here

What's Up?

Pangolin is just checking up on how everyone is doing as she prepares for a busy Caturday. She and the rest of the gang wish you all a happy #FurryFaceFriday

@JesseF8693
I'm so sorry you are finding it hard going at the moment. I'm glad to hear you have at least some support. Keep your chin up. I hope this pic helps cheer you a bit. I don't mention it in the alt text as it goes without saying that Zaz i's cute, perched on that ladder.

Who's hungry? Pangolin is letting me know she's ready for her second course. She always has to eat her meals in 2 parts, and so she has to let me know when it's time for the next. She's very polite. She is the chattiest of our 3, but quietly understated in her manner.
Good day to all from Pangolin, Zaz, Badger, Steven, and me.

Zaz on Her Tree Bed
Zaz has always been more of a cliff cat than a cave one. So she was really happy when I took her heated pad out of the box and put it on the shelf. She surveys her kingdom from here, with her trusty puppy friend by her side.
Happy Caturday to all who celebrate. Which must surely be everyone. See the post here:

So @GertrudeZane asked how our Cornish Rex cats and Joni are doing. This was how Zaz responded:

"Who wants to know? "
Ha ha! We're all fine, thanks. Everyone is enjoying the sun. (That's not a snarl, by the way, that's a Miaow.)

I've been a bit absent on here lately, as I've not been well. (Hopefully on the mend soon.)
However, as you can see, I have lots of help with household chores. Zaz couldn't quite work out how to put up the laundry rack, though. I suggested she just stick to cleaning the dishes.

Happy #Caturday everyone, from the gang here - Zaz, Pangolin, Badger and Joni (and Steven, of course).

This is not a great photo, but was a great occasion. After 15 months of being in the same house, this is the first time we've ever seen one of the other two cats share a bed with Zaz.
Badger (another Cornish Rex cat) is in the front, with Zaz looking surprised in the background. A real breakthrough.

Happy #caturday all!

Sleep Tight
If only we could all sleep as peacefully and soundly as a cat. If we could wake up as alert and ready for action as well, that would be a bonus. Zaz wishes everyone as good a night, and as sound and restful a sleep as you can manage. My gallery of cat photos can be seen here: https://www.elliekennard.ca/ekgallery/cats/

Last Dregs
Zaz lives in a home where there are no dairy products, nor meat, but she has found her favourite tipple – hemp milk! She waits impatiently when she hears me stirring the milk jug before pouring out the measure, then has to lick the spoon (both sides) then the measuring cup. This treat comes second only to the pleasure of licking out the lentil pot! Happy Caturday all!

Remembering Rupert

This was taken when Rupert was about 12 weeks old, or so. He has what looks like starter whiskers as his siblings had chewed them all off, I suppose.
We still miss him, it's great to look back on the old photos.

Pangolin wishes we would turn on the wood stove so she could listen to her favourite music in a warm spot like she did last year.
Patience, little Ping Pang, the parts for the repair should arrive soon, then we'll all be warm. Meanwhile, you, at least, have a heated bed to fall back on!
I hope all #FediFriends have a peaceful, warm weekend.

It's such a wonderful feeling when your young cat is so trusting that she lies on your neck, curled up, heavy, fast asleep. I knew she was fast asleep because she felt more like a lump, completely relaxed.
Enjoy your weekend, #FediFriends
