Nostalgia seems to be my theme at the moment. Back to happier days, I guess.
He was the loveliest cat, in looks and in personality and character. When he was 8 months old I took him to a cat show and he charmed everyone so much that we heard people passing by asking if they knew where that orange Rex cat was going next, so they could see what he was getting up to. He patted a passing judge on the backside from within his pen, and played with the tail of the cat in the next pen, much to that cat's annoyance. He won every prize going, got his championship in his first show and I never took him again. I didn't want to demoralize the other cats!
Anyway, we still miss him. Sigh.
Have a lovely Caturday, if you can, all who celebrate.

Halfway down the stairs

stop...." - a.a. milneOur two original Cornish Rex cats, Rupert and Molly. Like all cats, they migrate around the house depending on where the sun is shining. In the morning it shines through onto the stairs. I was struck on that particular morning by the wavy shadows of the stair balusters next to the curly cats. Rupert was a golden colour, Molly was black.

Poor Badger doesn't care for dentistry!
She had a lot of teeth removed about 10 days ago (she suffers from resorption), so that's pretty traumatic in itself. To make matters worse the pain medication made her nauseous so she wouldn't eat and when I stopped giving her that medication she was in too much pain to eat the soft canned food. The others offered to help clean her plate but were foiled in the attempt and went off in a sulk. So everyone was pretty miserable, including Steven and me.
She's doing much better now that she's on pain and anti nausea meds she can tolerate. She's eating again and obviously feeling more like herself.
She'll have to go back to have the others removed in 6 months or a year. They didn't want to keep her under the anaesthetic any longer as her blood pressure became difficult to stabilize.
I don't do well when any in my little family are sick.

Who's hungry? Pangolin is letting me know she's ready for her second course. She always has to eat her meals in 2 parts, and so she has to let me know when it's time for the next. She's very polite. She is the chattiest of our 3, but quietly understated in her manner.

Zaz has always been more of a cliff cat than a cave one. So she was really happy when I took her heated pad out of the box and put it on the shelf. She surveys her kingdom from here, with her trusty puppy friend by her side.

I've been a bit absent on here lately, as I've not been well. (Hopefully on the mend soon.)

This is not a great photo, but was a great occasion. After 15 months of being in the same house, this is the first time we've ever seen one of the other two cats share a bed with Zaz.

Last Dregs
Zaz lives in a home where there are no dairy products, nor meat, but she has found her favourite tipple – hemp milk! She waits impatiently when she hears me stirring the milk jug before pouring out the measure, then has to lick the spoon (both sides) then the measuring cup. This treat comes second only to the pleasure of licking out the lentil pot! Happy Caturday all!
