Interesting other messengers - i like the idea of this Briar Messenger because you can message someone (who also has it installed, using Bluetooth) which is most useful. Although it only runs on Android and Desktop. I kinda reminds me of a bluetooth messenger from about ten years ago, though I can't remember what that was called, off hand.

Thanks for reminding me about the binary sharing thing thats awesome. I also have to imagine that briar group chats will be quicker and more convenient to organise groups of people than ad hoc communication.

Ideally meshtastic should one day allow global communication; I've heard that a single low power radio node has kilometers of range

Yes I think to get the mesh network benefit you have to make something called a forum or maybe group and then members can forward messages to eachother

I want to like #briar / #briarproject, but I have nobody to test the app with, even if I did, contacts have to be added in person, the app warns me it will expire and delete all my data in a couple of weeks anyway, and I can't find any details about their protocol, aside from the app source itself...

And yet, it already has built in blogs and forums and who knows what else!
