At work we maintain a range of project templates for various languages such as #Python and #cpp we have been looking to migrate from #tox to #precommit and #uv but now #Astral the company behind uv and ruff has been acquired by OpenAI.
So everything is ready im just not sure anymore if we should, despite certain benefits its quite hard to ignore how many things are being ruined by corporate AI

If you are a tox user, do you use {/} when specifying paths in your tox.ini or pyproject.toml or tox.toml?
It's the portable path separator, and it really only matters to Windows users as the path separator is / on practically all other platforms.

Since tox 4.44.0, tox.ini has been frozen. Only the toml configuration is supported for further development. We have therefore updated our tutorial accordingly: https://python-basics-tutorial.readthedocs.io/en/latest/test/tox.html #Python #testing #tox

The recent announcement by Russian authority Roskomnadzor regarding tighter restrictions on the use of Telegram will cause a shift in communication protocols among cyber threat-actors. We may see an increased adoption of alternatives such as Tox and its variants, Wickr, and more widely used platforms like Signal.
We all need to be staying ahead of the evolving threat-actors; otherwise, we risk falling behind.

Thanks to @adamw, who dared to suggest we try it, we now have a small patch for #virtualenv in #Fedora to enable creation of #Python 3.6 virtual environments.
Hence, you can use #tox to test your code on Python 3.6 to 3.15, without the need for nasty hacks -- https://github.com/tox-dev/tox/issues/3656
Supporting testing on 3.6 is important to us, as many developers targeting #RHEL 8 still need to support it. (Python 3.6 is the new Python 2.6.)

Yo alguna vez me plantee salir al 100% de GAFAM (y consegui finalmente quedarme unicamente en WA, herramienta que no he tenido suerte en reemplazar).
He probado #tox, #jami, #xmpp, #sesion, #briar y todas sufren de problemas que las hacen -por el momento- inviable para las masas.
Como ejemplo: Jami/tox/briar tienen serios problemas de conectividad, ya que en mi caso enfrento largos tiempos de espera en el envio/recibir mensajes y/o archivos que han desinsentivado su uso por parte de mis contrapartes.
Otro aspecto es que (no) tienen caracteristicas que los hacen ver inferiores a wa/signal/telegram, como p.e. videoconferencia o mensajes de audio o grupos. -

1. #TRIfA und das #TOX-Protokoll. TRIfA ist eine Instant-Messaging-App, die Video- und Dateiübertragung unterstützt und plattformübergreifend ist. Was mir aber am meisten gefällt, ist die Netzwerkphilosophie, die komplett Peer-to-Peer und dezentralisiert ist, etwas, von dem ich denke, dass meine Genossen von :fediverse: es verstehen werden. :goose_hacker:
Es basiert auf einem gemeinsamen Protokoll TOX, das eine Vielzahl von Entwicklern dazu ermutigt, verschiedene Anwendungen zu entwickeln. Es gibt natürlich auch Einschränkungen, aber wie bei den meisten Open-Source-Projekten sind sie offen für diese.
Ich habe #qTox auch auf meinem Desktop benutzt, um mit meiner Familie in Kontakt zu bleiben. Vielen Dank also an alle Entwickler dieser Anwendungen, insbesondere an Zoff, der der Hauptentwickler von TRIfA zu sein scheint.

1. #TRIfA and the #TOX protocol. TRIfA is an instant messaging app, it supports video and file transfer, and is cross-platform. What I like the most about it though, is it's network philosophy of being completely peer-to-peer and decentralised, something I think my fellow :fediverse: folks will get. :goose_hacker:
It is built upon a common protocol TOX which encourages a diversity of developers to build different apps. There are limitations, but like with most open-source projects they are open about these.
I have also used #qTox on my desktop to keep in-touch with my family. So thanks to all the developers of these apps, especially Zoff, who appears to be the main developer of TRIfA

Si CIENTOS de millones de PCs privados se apagan en una region porque es de noche y otros cientos de millones de PCs se encienden porque se hace de día es imposible "prohibir"
¿Cómo prohibir los mensajes que se publican en la #RRSS de #I2P o Freenet cuando es casi imposible conocer a los autores o conectar a un mensaje con un posible autor?
De hecho solo una pequeña parte de las redes #P2P deben compartir archivos al estilo de #Bittorrent o #eMule, la mayoría solo comparte bits y nada mas.
